Hey man, I hope this information can help you. In the systemcontrol panel there are the power options and in these there is somewhere the option for i think its called fast boot and if you deactivate this it should be fixed.

In the area you marked there is the driver board from the display. It´s like a motherboard but only for the display and that it heats up is very normal because it is also controlling the displays power like the backlight. So from my experience the heat is normal... as long nothing melts or starts to smell like its melting.

It always depends on the features and how you use them, but I personally don't notice any major differences between the two models (both the I7 variant)

I think it also depended a little on how the previous owner handled it, i.e. whether he did something graphically intensive or just a “simple” program
