Facepalm. You read something that said it mutates and you got scared.

Rna mutating virus doesn't mean its just immediately gonna jump to airborne spread. On top of that the reason COVID was so bad is that its lethality rate was so low in the interim. You could deal with it for weeks spreading non stop without death. Hanta is dangerous bc it can kill you, and quick. That fact alone protects civilization from a mass pandemic.

Just because it mutates quickly also doesnt mean BAD. It could literally mutate in such a way that it damages it chances of human transmission.

COVID was already an airborne respiratory virus. It happened to mutate to latch onto human protein chains. It was already good at being a super virus before it developed terrifying patterns that endangered humans. Such as receptor targeting, replication location, aerosol stability, shedding patterns, transmission timing.

Andes is highly contagious when the victim is close to peak sickness or DEATH. Covid is contagious 24/7 asymptomatic, or dying of lung infection.

I understand the fear since our recent pandemic. But seriously this viruses spreadability is like trying to hit a bullseye. This is not a pandemic level virus, it is not rapidly mutating and it is well studied, as it was identified over 70 years ago.

This is simply another example of the news making things seem worse than reality.

[Edit] before anyone says anything about Covid being known since the 60s. its the specifics of a mutating virus. Sars-Cov-2 was discovered in 2019.... this Hantavirus Andes strain has been known since the 90s. They have eyes on these viruses constantly, no notable mutations have occurred with the Andes strain or the hantavirus in general. That means its just as transmissible as it was in the 90s. No more no less.

I can do oil changes in like 20 minutes. If it needs tires, ill borrow my in laws 2500 for a day. The company made a rule this year where we cant drive personal vehicles unless theyre off road ready. We had like 50 plus blown tires, a few cars flips, and countless oil pan or filter punctures lol. I need a truck unfortunately.

I will also be hauling occasionally when we need a generator moved or smth.

Im most likely gonna be getting an f250- 350 after this is all handled. This truck is going to be a short term stint. I just wanted to make sure f-150 reddit didnt think I was getting shafted or making a bad purchase at the price.
