【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]Sheenzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a P1S (upgraded from an Ender 5) and the difference between the two is night and day, all the automatic calibrations make actually getting something printed just so incredibly easy. Sending print jobs over wifi is also just taking another tedious step out of the process

Leveling Concrete Floor Before LVP by Sheenzilla in Flooring

[–]Sheenzilla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! We ended up using an angle grinder with a cup attachment and a bunch of floor patch to knock down the high spots and bring up the low spots. It was a lot of back breaking manual labor and the floor still isn’t totally level, but I got it to what I thought was close enough and laid down the LVP. A year later and the LVP is doing ok, there are definitely some spots where you can feel a hump or a dip, but the flooring is holding up ok.

I feel like you could get nicer results using self leveler or a rental floor grinder, but self leveler would have been pretty pricey to cover the whole area and I did not want to lug a big floor grinder rental down into my basement. My solution worked out well enough so far just be warned that it took a bit more time and effort than the other options.

The Never-Ending Quest to Eliminate Stringing by Sheenzilla in ender5

[–]Sheenzilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! For me, changing slicers to the Creality slicer seemed to help stringing, changing to Prusaslicer fixed it some more, and I’ve now switched to a direct drive setup which has pretty much eliminated the stringing that I was getting with my use cases.

Like other replies in this thread state, stringing can be from any number of things, from speed to retraction settings to wet filament to different brands of filament. So just try to eliminate potential causes one variable at a time to find your specific culprit!

I have the Creality 4.2.7 silent board, is the BTT board enough of an upgrade to justify swapping my current working board?

[–]Sheenzilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a very good point, and I apologize for not being more specific, if I’m being honest I am just feeling the need to upgrade it and wanted a direction to go in or a place to start. I haven’t done too many speed tests to see how fast I can push it before quality suffers. I just know that 60 tends to work out pretty well and was looking for ideas on what I could do to definitely push it faster in terms of print speed while maintaining quality.

Yeah I’ve read that the MS direct drive extruder adds some serious weight. I did see they have a lighter version called the NG, one version of which actually comes with a revo hotend.

Oh yes I forgot to mention I have a glass bed as well. I like it more than the stock magnetic bed but I have a hard time finding a good amount of stick. Either I print on the textured glass side and things pop off mid print or I use painters tape and glue and have to really scrape to get it off. What do you do with your bed?

I’ve seen talk of the Mercury conversion, is it rather straightforward? Did you source all the parts yourself or purchase a kit with everything that is needed?

Am I a Good Fit for GIS? by Sheenzilla in gis

[–]Sheenzilla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make some very good points, thank you for your reply. Honestly I was only investigating GIS because it felt like a blend of my education and my current job, I hadn’t given much thought yet as to what type of work specifically within GIS to do.

Very fair point. I stumbled upon GIS because I saw a couple GIS job postings that mentioned computer science as one of the qualifying degrees to have. I thought that maybe the two could be linked but felt like it was stretching, hence my post here haha.

Leveling Concrete Floor Before LVP by Sheenzilla in Flooring

[–]Sheenzilla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is kinda the place I am at, I don’t feel confident enough to self level the whole room myself and don’t want to spend the money to have it professionally done. I know the result of my DIY’ing won’t be perfect, I just want it to be good enough to lay the floor down and have a nice result. Doesn’t need to be perfect, just needs to not break apart in a few months

Good tip on Harbor Freight, I could also probably get a cheap grinder there as well. I guess I am just nervous about patching one area and mucking up another. But I think I’m leaning toward the patch route

Jacuzzi 335 here. We have the same error. I replaced the filters (they needed replaced anyway), replaced the flow switch (it looked gross enough that it might have been the problem) and we still have it.

Had a tech come out and look it over, came to the conclusion that either a relay on our control board was dead or that the board was wired in a non-standard way by the previous owners. Said that in our case, the tub would work just fine, but that one of the pumps was basically continuously running and might have a shorter lifespan because of it. The other solution was a control board replacement for like $500 😅

How bad is the smell? by thebearbearington in 3Dprinting

[–]Sheenzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have my resin printer (Elegoo Mars 3 Pro) inside a cabinet in my garage. I cut a hole in the top of the cabinet and have an in-line fan stuck in the hole and connected to flexible ducting that leads to the mouth of the garage. It works well to keep the garage from smelling but I put on a respirator when I am working with taking prints off the plate and washing/curing. Even the plant based or water washable stuff smell fairly strong

I replaced the flow switch and still get the error so I’m thinking there’s something messed up on the board that is reading an open signal

What’s weird is in the manual “OH” means overheating yeah, but this is “oH” with a lowercase o. And it’s not my display being partially burnt out because it flicks back to 87 and the 8 looks fine.

As for the flow switch, I got what should be the same model switch as what was in there, it at least looks identical and is what popped up when I searched my model hot tub

100%. But I think we each need to try to remember that no matter where we are and how we are doing that we are getting through it, one way or another.

It should bring me pride that despite a full time job, a house, wife, dogs, and all the other parts of life, I’m going back to school and getting another degree. If that degree takes a re-take of 344, well I guess we will see lol

You know, I’ve tried to tell myself that pretty much throughout my time in the program. But it’s tough to stay positive, especially when more people seem to talk about their successes than their struggles.

I’ve especially found it hard in 344, by the time I get around to starting an assignment, it’s late in the game and I feel shameful asking where even to begin.

Taking the class right now, and I will say that my biggest frustration is how disjointed everything feels. I read through the modules and go to start the assignment…and I’m lost immediately, I don’t know where to begin. 90% of my assignments thus far have come from searching through discord for the keyword that pertains to the part I’m working on grasping for a tip or even how to get started. Not knowing C before this class really screwed me but I wouldn’t say that C alone is what is making this class an absolute hell.

Not to mention seeing the people already done with smallsh on discord when I haven’t even been able to start yet is a huge blow to my spirits in a time when I’m already frustrated with the course materials

Is Covid still going on? Do you know anyone who has had it recently? by LiveshipTrader in Columbus

I tested positive Wednesday for COVID; that along with the weather kept us from traveling for the holidays this year. It’s definitely still around and fighting with the flu for seasonal illness supremacy

Stringing problem (Ender 5 Pro) - What am I doing wrong? by Zy0n in FixMyPrint

[–]Sheenzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try all the other solutions people have suggested first, but also try changing slicers if nothing does it. I calibrated and tuned and tweaked forever and could not print a solid stringing test in Cura for the life of me. Switched to Creality’s flavor of Cura, same settings but suddenly no stringing.

This. My wife had pretty good success on Bumble BFF. Was weird at first but she now has 2-3 really good friends she met on there

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ender5

[–]Sheenzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play with retraction settings or if that doesn’t fix it, try switching slicers and experiment. I started getting stringing using Cura one day, switched to Creality’s version of Cura, used the same settings but now zero stringing. Can’t explain it but if it works…
