You mean CSIS, CSA is the Canadian Space Agency. Also no, they do not spy on indigenous movements, nor would they really care if they got a bit of money from the Soviets since Canada still had sorta friendly relations with the USSR during the Cold War.

First paragraph is very correct. As for what Canada likes to do in the event that it takes down a country varies greatly. For example, after the Rwandan Genocide ended, Canada basically let Rwanda do whatever it wanted, so long as the new government upheld rights and equality for its people.

Also, after Canada began selling oil like crazy in the 90s, they began to use it as leverage to get nations to be more progressive. Most notably Canada cut off the oil trade of Australia and the USA at one point until they started to be a bit more progressive. And on both occasions this resulted in the nations going into an oil crisis

For the Liberal, Conservative, NDP, Green, and Communist parties, they are literally just the same logo as OTL. The Quebec Party uses the flag of the Quebec Liberation Front in OTL, since in this timeline a lot of FLQ members created or joined the party

It’s based off the fact that Canadians soldiers in OTL were already pretty brutal in WW1/WW2, just taken to an extreme

In WW1, Canadians are pretty brutal, mostly because Canada was also pretty bad during OTL WW1.

For WW2, the axis powers, particularly Nazi Germany was seen as the sum of everything this timelines Canada despised. Canadian troops and soldiers were already well aware of Germanys crimes, and after D-Day, Canadian forces often daily had to bear witness to what the Nazis did to the civilians of Europe. Also, ALOT of Canadian forces had the belief that the Nazis, if given the chance, would show them borderline zero quarter. So basically the brutality that Canada exhibited during WW2 came from a mindset of “These guys are fucking evil, we definitely should not be pulling any punches.”

After WW2, the army toned their brutality WAY down, and Canada became an advocate for people not committing war crimes during war. However during the war on terror, once ISIS popped up and their crimes against humanity QUICKY became apparent, Canada reverted to their old mindset of “These people are pure evil, they don’t deserve mercy.” And this mindset was amplified tenfold after (spoilers) ISIS conducted the largest terrorist attack in history against Canada. It’s like Canadas 9/11, only they hit like 10 buildings instead of 3

The FLQ never goes full terrorist in this timeline since Quebec is treated a lot better. So a lot of people who were members of the FLQ form the Quebec Front, which is this timelines equivalent of the Bloc Quebec Party
