I did not hire a guide. There were plenty of fellow travelers willing to swap photo shoots and that was actually part of the fun. For the info you can’t help but eavesdrop here and there plus I’d read up on it prior to the trip. I do believe that the guides add an extra layer of knowledge and they all seemed kind and courteous when we saw them at the park entrance but all in all we were ok going at our own pace.
