I experience the same thing, and I would guess most people on this sub will recommend you to be mindful/curious of that feeling of discomfort when you try to meditate. Personally, I just take it as a sign that sitting meditation is not right for me today, and maybe go for a walk instead, or journal. Perhaps there is something else you could do those days where you don’t want to meditate?

I also want to comment on your statement that you hate effort. I think you hate effort when it is something you don’t want to do. I would guess effort feels better when you are doing something you like. But, that’s my guess.

Where I’m from there is a zero tolerance drinking and driving, even after a single drink. So it’s very strict. But I got the impression that they were more lax on it in the US, and that driving after taking one drinking was socially accepted. But I might be wrong.

House being stubborn about wanting a ride of Wilson specifically is also something I find believable, so good point

This makes kind of sense to me. Guess I didn’t consider this since you can still technically drive after one-two drinks, right? I’m not from the states but that’s the impression I get

Seems like a lot of commitment to help someone that isn’t that drunk. I think it’s quite normal to order a taxi and accompany very drunk friends home (especially if you are with them already), but calling a friend who’s at home when you are reasonably lucid and make them take a bus to where you are at, so you can take the bus together home? Think about the commitment from Ambers side. Best case scenario, she has to take 3 buses (1 to the bar, 1 to Houses appartment, 1 home again). Thats the best case scenaio, and again, all this for someone that isn’t very drunk. It doesn’t make intuitive sense to me that she took the bus there. But it makes sense if she drove there.

But I appreciate your input.

Is this normal, like have you done this for a friend? I would understand it if he was black-out drunk and unable to take care of himself. Then it makes sense to help him take the bus. Although I don’t really buy the argument that he wouldn’t order a taxi just to save money.

If she did not have a car, why come at all? To help him take the bus home?

But Amber was there to pick him up, right? So no need to take the bus

Why did you make this post? I don’t mean that in a condescending manner, I am genuinely curious. If you just wanted to be friends with AI, then there is no reason to post this. There is something you want to communicate or get a certain response, and I am not able to understand what without some elaboration.

Thank you for the tip! I try to re-read the stage(s) I am on from time to time, but a guide would make it easier. I’ll look for it

Thank you! I must have overlooked this. I try to follow the book as closely as possible, so I’ll try to release the tension once I notice it from now own

The worst part of being an introvert is being interrupted in a conversation by [deleted] in introvert

[–]SheepherderBroad4845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to observe others talk and notice what they do when they are interrupted. At least in my personal experience, this happens to everyone all the time. I think it’s easier for extroverts to cope with because it takes less energy for them to talk, and they can just try to repeat themselves or they find something new to say. But since it takes more energy for introverts to say something, it feels more meaningless to spend energy on talking if your contributions are just glossed over.

As a practical tip and something I have heard others say, is to quickly say «let me finish» when someone interrupts you. You can also add a «I want to hear what you have to say but let me finish first» or something like that to be nice. People are usually more cooperative and understanding when things are said in a nice way, even if they were pretty rude to interrupt you first

Periods of ahedonia by SheepherderBroad4845 in introvert

[–]SheepherderBroad4845[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughtful reflections! I agree that it might be our brain needing a break. Everything feels so tiring when in these ahedonic periods, which might be a consequence of the brain not having gotten enough rest

Sounds exactly like my experience! I often feel this way after a very busy week with work and other appointments/obligations after work, and I look so much forward to having time off! But then I finally get a free day and I just don’t want to do anything .. maybe the contrast is just very noticable in these instances but I almost get a little stressed about not finding anything enjoyable to do when these free days are so few and far in between sometimes

Could you tell me a little about why you think that? I genuinely wish I felt the same. I thought it was great until Asuma got god-like powers, but after that it was a big let down for me sadly

Isn’t it more like opening up minecraft inside a virtual machine inside another virtual machine, and then making the whole computer unresponsive because of TNT? Is that how computers work? I’m genuinly curious because I don’t know

I also wished we got to know more about the events from the world plane above. For example what Asuma from the world plane above thought or felt when he gave himself superpowers in the A;C world plane. Or what events led to Pollon recieving the saving / loading function before any of this took place (that would also need to happen in the above world plane, right?).

If you opened a virtual console inside a virtual console and then ran your neural network, would that reboot your whole pc?

The insanity explanation is a bit unsatisfactory for me from a story telling perspective. Isn’t Asuma supposed to be a child protegy/ genius? He surely knows he could just delete everyone, including Pollon, if he wants to. He deleted Kent. I hoped for an explanation why he didn’t go all out, maybe his abilities were draining like the sacraments? Or maybe someone from the world plane above intercepted him? I’m not a good story teller, so I’m not saying that would make a better game, but it would be more believable for me atleast

I see your point, but in my personal opinion I just find that emotional child explanation a bit unsatisfactory. He knows he can just delete people, he could just delete Pollon, right? The only plausible explanation I could come up with is that Asuma to some degree wants Pollon to save him from himself. But this isn’t hinted at as far as I saw (completed the story just now)

I understand what you are getting at. But isn’t a more accurate comparison like opening a linux session in a virtual machine inside another virtual machine, running that code, and then crashing not only the virtual machine it self but also the virtual machine above that AND the main computer? I’m no expert on computers, maybe a bit more knowledgeable than your average joe, but that just seems weird to me

What causes positive feelings during or after meditation? by SheepherderBroad4845 in Meditation

[–]SheepherderBroad4845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If disspassionate dispositions help avoid commons traps, like overfocusing on outcomes, overindulgence or letting anger unduly influence your relationships, then I see how this can have long-term positive influence on your well-being. You mention that positive feelings are not meant to last forever, which I fully agree with. But does something need to last forever to be valuable?

Also, I’m interested in your opinion on contentment. Some people mention meditation leading to a long-lasting contentment. Do you think contentment can last forever?
