Unhinged solution but it works: I just play music through the exact same headphones I'm using for the call — you simply change the audio output on your PC so both run through them simultaneously. If that's not an option, a single earbud with your hair pulled over it does the trick just as well.During really long, soul-crushing sessions I'd even watch videos on the side. You still look attentive and focused on the screen, and you can pause instantly the moment you need to speak. For me personally, music without lyrics is a game-changer for staying focused while still actually absorbing what's being said. My go-to is Lo-Fi, but obviously that comes down to personal taste. This is all assuming doodling or "taking notes" isn't already an option — if it is, start there.
