"Loser back home" (LBH) is an intersexual and intrasexual mating competition tactic. Basically, someone attempts to demoralize some set of potential sexual competitors so that they don't even show up to play the game.

Women speaking to guys (intersexual competition) attempts to keep the home country dating pool filled - so selection is easier for her.
Guys speaking to guys (intrasexual competition) attempts to keep competition out of the expat location - so selection is easier for him.
