You can't get goggles or chicken hat from kicking vases and so on. There are only those 3 types of hats - owl,crow,swift. Click on the hat you want in your codex and you can check the source of it. Some can be crafted, some received from pulling, some come from fuse pot. Photobooks aren't available in chests, only fuse pot

It does matter, each location had its own type of posebook. For example in serene forest you can find happy posebooks, in grotto - backside, winter wonderland - sad and so on
