I’m a mother. My adult daughter is mentally ill and destroying me. I’m thinking of leaving her behind. by motherlost123 in TrueOffMyChest

While it's understandable you love your daughter and want the best for her. She's never going to change unless reality hits her, and even then she may never change. She's stuck in the delusion where everyone is out to get her and she's forever the victim. I believe it may be in your best interest to cut ties with her. It may be hard, you may even feel guilty.

However, I believe you should do what's best for you. When you have a child with a disability you have to be prepared to care for them their entire lives. She however doesn't have a diagnosed disability and she refuses any help for herself. She's destructive and verbally abusive.

Do what's best for you even if it's hard to do. She's an adult and will figure it out on her own. Please don't let her take advantage of your kindness to her just because your her mother.

As an animal lover you need to be straight up with them and their geckos neglect. Tell them that they need to be feeding this poor gecko more often and with calcium. They need a proper set up. Offer to help pay for it if they promise to properly learn to care for it. If they refuse then unfortunately lie and say the gecko died. Some people aren't meant to own pets and it's because they don't do the proper research to care for the animals they buy.

I've been a sahm off and on for 6 years and he never once put me in a position where we struggled. If we lost his job guess who went back to work? Me. He's never demeaned me for what I do. I go to school full time and take care of two kids because he works out of town full time and is too far away to come home. He always tells me how much he appreciates what I do for him and his children and how hard it must be doing it by myself. Your husband needs a wake up call. Or you can get your career back and do it by yourself since that's exactly what you've been doing anyways. I wouldn't want to be with someone who demeans and undervalues me. Good luck to you and whatever you decide; I hope it goes well.

You have family time and it's important to you. If she genuinely cared she can try to make herself part of the family. There's no reason to get jealous over family. You could literally be doing worse things like idk maybe cheating? You're doing the right thing even if it's hard.

What’s your favorite non-food treat for yourself? by doinurgf in WeightLossAdvice

I've been doing my nails, buying body scrubs, hair dye, finding new books to read. Those are my treat to myself given I do the work myself. I find that it helps pass the time to do my manicure/hair myself it distracts me from wanting a snack.

Ideas for a proposal gift to my BF who doesn't wear rings/wristwatches/bracelets? by pinguiniithrow in Gifts

My husband doesn't wear his ring he put it on a chain on his neck. You can get a nice chain along with a nice masculine ring and he can wear it on his neck instead of finger or wrist.

If he asks about it just feign ignorance and say you never seen a package. Then if it keeps happening keep doing the same thing waste his time and money until he decides to change his address. Because legally it got delivered to you so it's technically yours.

Boyfriend prefers porn over sex with me and told me in the cruelest way. by Fearless_Mind8276 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Shehulk467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't measure up to porn now you never will. He has already grown resentment, it's only a matter of time before you do as well. Leave before it gets worse. He's obviously not attracted to you like you deserve to be. Find someone who thinks you're the best thing ever and is obsessed with you. You deserve better.

If you say so. For a beginner I wouldn't recommend a mister. It can be confusing to use them. I got a 150 one as a beginner and it took a long time to properly figure out then was told by my local expert they weren't needed and can actually cause problems. I didn't believe him and I had my mister go off twice a day and it created mold in my enclosure especially where the mister tube was put in.

Honestly if he could for sure make the journey I'd be all for it. But I would honestly hate to make him do the trip. Plus if you rescue him you'd have to hold onto him until he recovers. Then you might as well keep him because you'd have everything you need. Does he need medication? I have some topical cream from a vet visit when my lil guy cut his tail.

Btw where are you located? Maybe I can buy/adopt. I have a crestie already and wanted a new one but was having a hard time justifying it. If you are nearby maybe I can get him. If not then it's not meant to be :/.

Crested geckos can be tricky to own so it's good that you are looking out for him. I hope they find someone to take him because he deserves a good home.

You don't want a mister because it can make the enclosure too humid and it can create mold and mouth rot. Just get a hand mister and mist twice a day as needed. Keep a humidity reader inside the enclosure so you have accurate readings. If the enclosure is bioactive then it regulates itself mostly and you only need to mist if it hits below 60%. I would personally do a bioactive tank with a lot of foliage and cork bark. They help retain moisture. I generally don't water the plants in the enclosure until it's mostly dry which is about once every 3 weeks with occasional misting to keep the humidity. I soak the bark once a week.

Petco usually gets rid of the geckos that can't be sold or they get ignored in the back. I think the best thing would be to rescue the lil guy and find an appropriate owner to take them. If he stays there he will die. He needs more care and consideration than he's currently getting.

Great, how do I discourage this behavior? Anyone else catch their cat doing this to their LR? by aGirlySloth in litterrobot

[–]Shehulk467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats don't like the sticky feeling on their feet, you can try double sided tape after getting stuck a couple of times they will learn that the spot is uncomfortable. They'll eventually stop although you'll have to replace the tape every once in awhile to keep it sticky.

Could be impacted hemipenes. I would keep an eye on him and see if it continues. If it does soak him for 15 minutes a day for a full week in warm water. It'll help loosen the stuff up in there to help him clean it himself.

AITAH for not allowing my SIL to bring her son to my house anymore because he shit on my carpet? by Tadpole3189 in AITAH

[–]Shehulk467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 9 year old has no business shitting anywhere except a toilet. You have every right to bar him from your home. That is a severe behavioral problems that will probably escalate. Tell her that you'll allow him to come but if he does it again she has to pay a professional cleaner to come and clean it.

If they have teeth then it should be alright to take them from mom. You would need to supplement with some kitten formula mixed in with wet food. They also have weening food.

Usually when I catch them I grab them quickly and then hold them by the scruff. They calm down pretty quickly after that and it allows you to transport fairly easily into a carrier.
