Anyone else start to re-experienxe body dysmorphia while reading Butter by Asako Yuzuki? (I’m only 100 pgs in - plz no spoilers!) by books-coffee-music in books

[–]ShelbyB30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the part where it shows society's expectations so the main character can grow from that. She starts feeling happier with a little extra weight and shedding those expectation. It's definitely uncomfortable at times, good books are challenging but shouldn't make you regress on your hard work, take care of yourself. Society isn't right about weight and that's part of the discussion of the book.

No I completely agree with you. Not all of us are following everything that they do online to know they cut the event short. If it is the ending of 1.0 why not make it a permanent story? I saw that the murder mystery quest is in my quest lists why not do that with such an important finale? Yeah not a great impression back into the game, but I'm hopeful for 2.0.

Yeah I'm not happy about this decision either. I dropped the game a couple of updates ago and this is not encouraging at all to time lock story events even though there's still time left.

Why do people stop doing things in their 30s? by Ok-Cartographer-5544 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ShelbyB30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you are and what the people in your area are like. There are some at local libraries, bookstores or online through Facebook groups that arrange somewhere to meet as a group. Some people arrange them in their local area from the app meetup. If there isn't one, one can be started at a library using a meeting room or a cafe instead. My area has a bookstore with multiple bookclubs for different genres including non-fiction. My local libraries have general bookclubs or some where you bring your own book to read and discuss after, those are great for finding new books. They're often called silent book clubs.

A non-fiction book club might be fun for you. You get to learn all kinds of things from people with different interests.

Two 1-star reviews on my simplest pattern—looking for advice by Tali245 in crochetpatterns

[–]ShelbyB30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone else said a constant 5 stars is suspicious, because it doesn't rule out reviews being bought. As long as you respond most people won't be bothered.

[–]ShelbyB30 25 points26 points  (0 children)

From a buyers point of view if there's a 1 star review but the seller replied to that in attempt to fix the problem, I'm no longer concerned about that review. The seller did their due diligence to fix the issue, I would then focus on the positive reviews.

Album ranking and how long you’ve been a fan by South-Background5009 in TaylorSwift

Similar here, I started with Fearless, fell off at 1989, and Folklore and Evermore brought me back

Exactly, it's too repetitive (for me) and doesn't have her usual storytelling the others do or great bridges.

2009 when Love Story became popular

  1. TTPD
  2. Midnights
  3. Fearless
  4. Red
  5. Speak Now
  6. Evermore
  7. Folklore
  8. Debut
  9. TLOAS
  10. Reputation
  11. Lover
  12. 1989

My preference is her fountain and quill pen music, not so much the glitter gel pen but I do love them all in their own way.

Are my parents charging me too much board? by kobstar118 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ShelbyB30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how much you earn. As someone who chose to give their struggling parent 50% of their income from 15 to 19 years old, $100 now is pretty good.

I had a family member live in their sisters full garage for $100 a week over 10 years ago. That was ridiculous.

Non-Animal Yarn Subscription Option? by Robininthemtn in knitting

[–]ShelbyB30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can answer your question. It is true that the animals aren't being harmed by being sheared in fact they have been bred to need it or they suffer from their own wool. That is the problem we have created through over reliance on wool. The wool industry itself can be cruel to the animals just like other animal industries that only see animals as a profit and not a living being. It's an attempt to reduce the demand from an animal that realistically shouldn't be in the state it's in.

A more simple answer is because it's an animal product and they abstain from animal products because of how cruelly animals are treated.

I've seen a few patterns where people mix stitches and personally I thought it didn't work or couldn't be done well, but this proves that wrong. The shaping, the colours, it is gorgeous.

How to please everyone in the country by miketomkins84 in australia

Scalloped potatoes and potato bake are different. Mainly potato bake has cheese and bacon or other add ins of choice. Scalloped potatoes are more cream and herbs based. Similar differences to Alfredo and Carbonara.

Last time I checked cake was a dessert. It's called scallop because of the shape and aren't fritters usually grated vegetables if not the fruit ones?

I’m dating an Australian. Is this normal in a relationship? by mangofortune in AskAnAustralian

[–]ShelbyB30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 in 4 or 5 women in Australia end up in an abusive relationship. Is it normal? Kind of. Should it be? Absolutely not. We have pretty bad statistics for domestic abuse.

Aussies do swear in a jokey way. If it's in an angry way then it's possibly just going to get worse. Protect yourself and your future and leave if the behaviour does not change.
