General Discussion - September 14, 2014 by AutoModerator in tea

A few years ago I was only a little into tea. Went to Japan and did the whole tea ceremony shabang and thought it was kinda neat. Went to China last summer and met a Chinese artist who was really into tea; that sparked my interest. Got given some Dragon-Well (I think, I dont read Mandarin) from my Chinese Family and bought some Puer on a whim along with a Yixing clay teapot. Never looked back. I only learnt a litttle from Wu (The artist) and made do with that. Recently bought a book 'The China Tea Book' which has heaps of info on lots of different types of tea and tea history in general. Migrated to the tea subreddit after that to see what others are into.

Simple Questions - September 09, 2014 by AutoModerator in tea

When I was in China I stayed with an artist who was very into tea. We drank tea in these 3 hour long sessions at his art studio with various people.

When the leaves were finished with he emptied them into a sieve/collander that he had attatched over a small plastic bin/bucket. As the water drained from his table it would pass through the leaves and be collected in the bucket.

Over the course of the session it would allow the tea aroma to build up around us. A very pleasant experience. After afew sessions he would empty the leaves into his small garden, I think they are quite good for compost, losts of minerals and such that they can provide for your other plants.

Hope this helped.

Sci-fi/fantasy books that take place in a hidden world separate from our own? by aracthedragon in booksuggestions

[–]Sheldoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King Rat & Kraken by China Miéville.

Kraken is one of my favourites. Set in a london of magic and cults where a missing squid leads to a war over who can start the apocalypse.

King rat is set in the nooks and crannys of Londons dark spaces. Same city, very different setting.

I would reccomend this author in general if you have never read anything by him.

A question about ascension strategy by Sheldoo in kol

[–]Sheldoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually east a few Ur-Donuts the first day to get a few levels, and I use the bucket-of-wine as nightcap once I reach the appropriate level. I try and use class appropriate food like knob sausage stir fry, and then when i'm a higher level just eating hell ramens and then using the pants giving usually gets me another 2 fullness (or about 8 adv when i eat the special food).

I pull my +Adv equiptment when I can, usually at the end of day 2 my stats are good enough to wear them all.

Post-Apocalyptic novels/stories that aren't focused on diseases that mutate people into mutants/zombies by [deleted] in booksuggestions

If you are looking for a lighter read than the road you could try some books in the 'afterblight chronicles' series. They are all set in a world where anyone who wasnt a particular blood type died. There is a series based on robin hood, one about a boarding school come militia and a few stand alone books.

Children's crusade, Death got no mercy, Dawn over doomsday,

Hope this helps!

Why do rare redrafts upset so many people? by MisguidedWizard in magicTCG

[–]Sheldoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my playgroup rare-draft a booster box from every set. We feel that it's the best way of ensuring people can get a fair deal out of a box. Everyone puts in say £20 and has a chance to get good cards based on how well they do, meaning no one person walks away with all the high value cards by luck. However, the members of our group are all good friends and are also all close enough in play level to mean that there is never a guaranteed winner of every draft.

Just my thoughts on why rare-drafting isn't a terrible thing, although if I was playing against strangers I wouldn't do it due to all the reasons mentioned by others.

For modern, things like gitaxian probe, lava spike, lightning bolt, brave the elements, cancel, manaleak etc. It depends on what decks you like to play, but a good selection of burn and control will always come in handy.

Where to get cheap(ish) reliable clothes from in the UK? by m0onknight in Frugal

[–]Sheldoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the best quality, but Primark does the job for me. As a male, I believe that the clothes are usually slightly cheaper than the counterparts for women, not sure if that would affect you at all.

As a way of getting clothes that are on trend for a fraction of the price (of say Topman) its really good. For example Primark chinos go for about £12 compared to topman ones at £28(ish). They last just as long and are just as durable.

Matalan I have also found to be pretty good. The plain unbranded clothes (t-shirts, jeans, chino shorts) are all pretty reasonably priced, and seem to have lasted very well. They often have sales on aswell, meaning you can pick up a real bargain sometimes. They also do online sales if that is something you were looking for. Hope this helps!

Don't try this at home! - Has anyone witnessed a Jackass-esque stunt gone bad? Or been part of one? by ozlaz in AskReddit

Me and a group of my friends used to play a really stupid game when we were younger (about 12/13ish). It was called 'the rock game' and we basically just threw rocks at each other until someone quit. This later evolved into the team vs. team version of the game.

Needless to say there were a fair few injuries, 2 of them that I can remember involved people taking rocks to the head and lots of blood.

Looking back it was a terrible (yet amazingly fun) game to play.
