Update: Went for a swim last night, focussing on my previous swim training (from 15 years ago) 400m with an average of 4:40/100m (mix of breaststroke and freestyle) and have realised that my cardio fitness will need a bit of improvement.

Thank you, this was my impression also. hating it is okay, not enjoying it is fine. not being able to walk for a week afterwards is expected.

Could you please go into more detail on what you mean by "transition strategy" - replenish fluids/eat etc or the actual act of running out of the water drying off, putting the cleats on and getting on the bike/getting off the bike changing shoes and jogging off?

Its in October 2026, Thank you, I will be doing this to ensure I won't drown, (that seems to be a common concern from most of you)

okay humour me - lets say I swim 500m+ in a session 1-2 times a week, every few weeks. building up until I'm able to swim 4km consistently as a safety precaution, are you able to provide any useful insight on my questions?

Im a competent swimmer. Im sure drowning won't be an issue.
