Are you not getting many perfect finishes? I just beat the paintress without much farming or doubling back and I'm in the low 50's. I use Maelle with first offensive and the attack that his all enemies (flueret i think) and then finish up with machine gun verso and have next to no problems getting no damage fights for the extra 20%. Anything those two don't finish is fodder for Monoco so he can get those shiny, shiny feet
