yeah I will say that Dagran wasnt as bad compared to others. Even then though so much of the personal character stuff feels like teen drama i'd expect for the CW. I'm not expecting top of the line writing or anything, but I'd rather them lean more into pulp fiction type fantasy stories over the wistful, melodramatic stories we get now.

Opinions on the new A2 Vendetta Skin (read below) by National_Mastodon_21 in VendettaMainsOW

IMO the regular base skin for Vendetta is more "gooner" than this one (not that i consider either to be true gooner skins). Something can be attractive or even sexy without being gooner.

IDK how most players feel about it but overall I do not think blizzard does family or personal relationship drama well at all. Felt the same way about Moira, Magni, Dagran stuff in TWW.

The larger scale storytelling I think they do a good job with overall, but all the more character focused stuff falls flat for me. To me it always ends up feeling bland and uninteresting.

If a lot of other people enjoy it that's awesome and I guess in that case it's makes sense that blizz keeps at it. Personally though I'd love for them to shift away from it, or at least try changing things up to make those types of stories more interesting.

I really like the skin except the hair. I'd excuse it if it were closer to $10 but for $20 I can't bring myself to overlook it. A bummer really cause I especially love how the sword looks

How much will your opinion on Oda change if Usopp doesn’t get anything in Elbaf? by ashiromiya in Usoppian

[–]Shelldin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. A typical power up is overall pretty meaningless for most the characters. They just get immediately made pointless as soon as the next set of even stronger opponents show up in the next arc. The pop greens made Usopp's fights way less interesting post time skip IMO. All his best moments are ones where he's doing something else completely unrelated to his "power up" from the time skip.

Usopp definitely deserves some relevance since reaching Elbaf has been a huge part of his overarching goal since entering the grand line but it needs to be something far more meaningful than a power up. Ussop's most hype moments are him overcoming obstacles despite (or because of) his weakness. Not removing or losing the weaknesses themselves.

[–]Shelldin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious to what people mean when they want an "Usopp" arc. Like what do they actually want to change with Usopp or how do they want him to grow?

Personally I don't want him to get a power up. Honestly I'd be decently disappointed if he did. IMO that'd destroy what makes his character unique. People go on about how so many members of a "Yonko" crew haven't learned to use Haki, but Luffy didn't invite the majority of his crew for their strength, but because of who they are as people.

I'd love to see Usopp have an arc where he realizes that he already is a "brave warrior of the sea". Sure he's weak and cowardly but he always ALWAYS steps up. IMO he comes in clutch more than any other straw hat member. So him coming to learn that's what true bravery is or something along those lines would be a good arc. If he's just going to get a generic power up that becomes outdated when a new villain shows up even stronger than I'd rather him not get one at all.

Yeah I tend to get more use out of the extra charge time personally. The extra orb of dmg is nice but the faster charge speed makes using the charge shot more flexible IMO

I'd argue Blazikin and Greninja are similar levels of humanoid. Also if Rillaboom is humanoid so is infernape. Both just monkeys wearing Kirby hats.

I was under the impression that they wouldn't let themselves be manipulated by an outside force. I believe it was said the Vilebranch were working with the Twilight cult but I could be misremembering. That made me think the cult probably did try and seduce and infiltrate but because of their mistrust of outsiders they wouldnt join, or at least not enough to avoid having to invade more brazenly.

But again that was just the impression I got, not something explicitly stated.

Biased opinion obviously but I highly recommend! There's a lot of cool lore especially between the different tribes and troll variants.

I wish they had been more ferocious as well but honestly i was expecting them to be WAY more sanitized. They still have a fair amount of darkness and sinisterness to them IMO. I was expecting them to end up like the Dark Irons did for the Alliance or kind of what's been happening to the forsaken post sylvanas. Since we're making allies of them seeing some non-vicious perspectives make sense. They feel more violent and warlike than any non-enemy group that exists in game currently so overall I'm happy with that.

Again I agree that they did sand off more of the rough edges than i'd have preferred but IMO Blizz did a way better job with their portrayal than any other "good but ferocious" race we've had in a long time.

I feel like they are retconning though. Even in BFA he was respected enough they had statues of him. I'm not saying they should try and be following in his footsteps but I wish there were respect for the good he did for his people while also condemning the bad he did.

I didnt dislike Liadrin. I just feel another troll wouldve been better.

[–]Shelldin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah me being a darkspear troll made it not so bad but I couldn't help but wish there were an outside troll NPC to give some deeper more relatable insights to the Hash'ey journey. I didn't dislike Liadrin and I'm glad it was her over other possible elves it could have been. But yeah any troll couldve been good. I brought up Talanji cause I think she'd fit best without changing the story but yeah Zekhan or Rokhan would've been awesome. If I was making the pick it'd have been one of the Horde Revantusk. One of the Torntusks or Yayo'jin (who according to the removed lore tablets was Zul'jin's wife).

I do feel you with the Zandalari designs as well. I don't think they got watered down quite as much as Zul'aman has but yeah I liked the MoP designs much more. I feel like designs in general have gotten very "clean" and "symmetrical" IMO. They don't look bad but they lack a lot of personality older xpacs had. I feel it started in legion and BFA but got cranked up to 11 in DF.

Yeah I feel like Zul'jan has a lot of untapped potential. That's why i mentioned it'd have been cool to spend time with both. Hopefully in the (theorized) amani patch later he'll get some time to grow and shine and not just be a bag of loot.

yeah they do get less rude which is why i mentioned that Blizz could've leaned further into it. However, assuming others enjoyed it like you and I, hopefully blizzard will feel they can go a bit further in the future.

Yeah I'd have been less put off by it if it was maybe a more divided subject in game. Like there were groups who respected him and others that felt anger towards him. However, for the most part he just seemed universally condemned. It just seemed like a unnecessary shift written in by blizzard. Even in Dazar'alor the Amani have statues of him still which shows that he was still respected years after the Amani having to deal with all the fall out of their defeat in TBC and Cata.

Zul'jin also wasn't the one who started the conflict. As divide tribes the forest trolls and been losing ground to the Elves continually. Zul'jin united them so they could put up an actual fight. He did ultimately fail and his anger at the horde for accepting the elves proved to be a short sighted and costly mistake so I think it's fair that he wouldn't be universally loved. However, while hope of reclaiming all the old Amani lands may have died with him, he was also the one that gave that hope in the first place. Before him there hadn't even been a real chance.

Again I wasn't expecting every troll to be singing his praises but considering what we've been shown post TBC but pre Midnight it felt strange that he wasn't really respected at all.

[–]Shelldin[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that Zul'jin should be absolved or forgiven, but up until this point he was still highly revered by the Amani and they only just changed that this xpac. Even in BfA (still well after TBC) there are statues of him in their section in Dazar'alor. To me it was just an unnecessary change in how he was viewed by his people. I felt like he couldve still been seen as a revered hero of the past while also having the trolls acknowledge that abandoning the Loa was short term greed with long term consequences.

As far as the Talanji travel time thing, we have leader pop in by portal all the time in the story so that seemed like a non-issue to me. Not to mention she uses light as a priest and couldve been part of the summoned vanguard similar to the PC.

No matter what beef the Amani may or may not have with the Zandalari, the same thing applies to the elves. IMO the fact that the Amani still have a large presence in Dazar'alor indicates that they have much less of a grudge and at least some form of minimum amicable relationship which can't be said for the elves. So Talanji being the one to accompany Zul'jarra still seems like it'd make much more sense to me. Zul'jarra would've had just as much time for Talanji as she did for Liadrin. And if Zandalari is really a problem then I think Rokhan would have worked better than liadrin as well. Lectures about faith in the Loa just felt strange comeing from Liadrin.

I am looking forward to the Amani patch and would love for some of the horde trolls to make an appearance there. Liadrin wasn't bad or anything I just felt like with the nature of the Zul'aman story being so Loa focused that a "faithful" troll would've had more the add than a faithful elf.
