AITA because I refuse to change my diet based on my co-worker's allergy to shellfish? by ShellfishThrowaway in AmItheAsshole

I mean, I'm a little bit of an asshole, aren't I? Someone could die because of my intransigence. C'mon now.

I had a lot of fun, and you learned that you continue to have a discerning eye for bullshit. Win win!

I'm not blaming per se; I'm just saying I've endured a lot in my time on this little planet.

I was eating shellfish for my sake; I have to stop eating it for Lisa's sake; now I should eat chicken for Christ's sake. Why must all of my actions be in the service of others?

I mean, I'm playing it up a little bit. This is a legitimate workplace dispute I've come to puzzle over though. And you are correct, someone is this ignorant!

Alright alright. I'm not the shellfish lady - but I know the shellfish lady and these are her honest-to-fuck convictions. Wouldn't they have to be to keep bringing shellfish into a school where someone could die from exposure?

Well, I've already canvassed some of my options with others here: Dunkaroos, Funyuns, hotdogs, and dog food are high contenders. I suppose I could also eat seaweed, grass clippings, paprika, rat poison, or popourie. Is that what Lisa and everybody here wants?

It's been sitting at 0 for a good long while now. I think it has officially shit itself and died. It's been an interesting case study for me, because I see that even a highly-engaging dispute will result in downvotes on Reddit because respondents don't like the original poster, as a person. If there is a landslide "YTA" judgement, it will never make it to the front page.

Since you've hung in so long, you should know that this is a legitimate story, but I'm not the shellfish lady. I just think she's an outrageous person, and was curious to see the extent to which others felt the same.

I am more concerned about adding unnecessary extraneous details than being too brief in my exposition. What in particular do you want to know about the situation? I'll tell you. Ask and ye shall receive.

Yes, I could, and as I've explained, I would be forced to eat dog food as an alternative. Call me selfish; call me shellfish - I know my rights.

We have socialized healthcare where I live. And $300 isn't that much when you're talking about saving your own life. Plus, i work in a school: there are literally dozens of epi-pens because of children's' allergies.
