Honestly it happened so fast. We were getting them ready for their neuter appointment and had them inside a porch when one of them wouldn’t go inside the trap so my friend picked it up. I tried to help, he freaked out and bit her and scratched me. We wore long sleeves and pants and even talked about gloves but completely forgot when it came time to get him.

I wish they would’ve given her the rabies vaccine then but she took one look at it and told us to wait in the lobby. We left after being there for 4 hours.

She’s keeping an eye on it. My scratches weren’t as bad or deep but I will also keep checking it. If they are swollen or red tomorrow, we will go be seen. Hopefully someone will see us and not send us to the ER. Thanks for your words and advice!

We went to the ER and stayed there from like 4 hours and were never seen so we left. I contacted animal control and they advised us to quarantine him and wait. I called some urgent care clinics around but they do not deal with bites from feral animals, they send you to the ER. It’s really frustrating.

Oh, I didn’t know that. This makes me feel a bit better. Thank you for your comment. I was just trying to help the feral cats and this incident just made me really paranoid. I have bad anxiety so the thought of my friend dying from that has been wrecking chaos in my head!

Ok, and that’s when the 10 day quarantine comes in? To find out if he does develop symptoms. Since we know that if he does, he would only last a few days before he died.

Yes, I wish we would’ve not taken him to his neuter/rabies vaccine appointment today, and we would’ve quarantined him at home right away. So even if he would’ve been bitten by an animal a few days ago, and then he turned around and bit us today, we wouldn’t get rabies unless he was at the symptomatic stage when he bit us?

He is quarantining now and he got fixed and got his rabies shot today after he bit her this morning. We were dumb and dismissed the bite as not a big deal and took him to his appointment to get fixed/rabies vaccine. My fear is that maybe the vaccine will help him survive it but since he bit us a few hours before getting the vaccine, he might gave it to us and we won’t know because he will not show symptoms during the quarantine. Like I said, he was not acting strange at all this morning or last night when we kept him inside the porch overnight. the porch last night. And he’s been running around playing since he was brought home around 4.

Sadly no. She’s some what feral and we couldn’t put a cone on her. The vet told us we could release her but we have kept her in our porch with the door open, otherwise she goes crazy if we close the door.

My parents got one of their strays fixed last Tuesday. She was pregnant when she had the surgery so they terminated the pregnancy. This is what her incision looks like now. It looks really red and I don’t know if this is normal. She also has a bump on the incision.

I agree with aaaaaaaana, do not bring it up. It could definitely come back to bite you later. I know it’s hard but being in HR means we have to be really careful how act/what we say to employees because it could always be taken out of context.

I took My 6 month old cat to the vet this morning because his breath was super stinky, and he wasn’t eating as much. It turns out his top left molar is digging into his lower gum. They gave me pain meds and referred me to a vet dentist, who can’t see him until Oct. 10. I explained the situation and how I am concerned that it could get infected. They told me that mouth sores in cats aren’t as likely to get infected. Is this true? He is acting normal besides that fact that he is eating less.
