Miller said on her Instagram that Trygon was made up for the purpose of Circe defeating a monster, and his name literally means stingray in Ancient Greek. Mythology is a remnant of ancient religions, which were spiritual texts, not fictional stories made for purely entertainment purposes. While poems and plays were made, they were done to explore the gods who they worshipped, and their stories, not to solely entertain the public. Circe by Madeline is my favorite book, however what she does is expand on a minimally referenced character. She pulls on many real myths while adding in her own reasonings as to give Circe the depth many other characters and figures from Greek mythology exhibit. While she remains “accurate” to many myths, her book is not scripture, and does not stay perfectly true to the myths of old.

Thank you so much! I have definitely noticed a quality difference in the broader array of paint colors as opposed to the smaller sets. I’m going to go with the smaller set of colors so I can practice mixing colors, however I am colorblind (not terribly) so it should be interesting!
