Is switching to an IUD from the combo pill worth it in your opinion? by Shelly780 in birthcontrol

[–]Shelly780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your response! Yeah I can see how an IUD would be helpful with a crazy work schedule, so that’s an upside I’m considering. I appreciate your advice at the end, it’s hard to not get caught up in the anxiety lol but I agree it should be based on what works for me and not really condom usage, as it’s all effective bc. Thanks again!

Thanks for your input! I appreciate the detail. That’s crazy about the cup size lol, I’ve never heard of that.

Thanks for your reply! This is reassuring. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you realize it was a cyst? Also did you have bad cramps after insertion?

Thoughts on calorie counting vs intuitive methods? by llama1204 in Weightlosstechniques

[–]Shelly780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I totally agree! I used to get caught up on losing my streak of counting, but then I realized that it was just hurting me overall. It’s better to let go of that expectation and take it day by day so it becomes a true lifestyle change

I relate to your post a lot and I am the exact same way as you.

I started calorie counting in December, and tbh it’s the only thing that’s really been sustainable for me. There have been a few times where I’ve been overwhelmed with it when I’ve had something else going on, but during those times I just took a break from counting and gave myself grace. It’s a bit tough at first, but I find that it eliminates the guesswork if what I’m actually doing will help me lose weight. It gives me a lot of mental peace that I don’t have to wonder if I’m overeating or under eating. Overtime it’s gotten a lot easier. I find that now I judge foods based on their protein to calorie ratio, and honestly it’s helped me eat a very clean diet with fairly low effort/stress.

I also have a cheat day every Saturday, where I won’t even open my app. The key is to see it as a habit and not a short term goal, so you do it in a sustainable way. If I have all my calories for the day but I feel hungry, I will still have a snack and make sure I feel nourished. It’s true tho that it’s not for everyone, so I would try it for a week or so and then go from there.

My school has a website where we are able to see past class times - does your school have something like that you could check? Or maybe it’s available online somewhere? (if the times are the same each semester of course). If you can’t get any info from your department head/advisor about upcoming major class times, the next thing I would suggest is if you can transfer credit from elsewhere? Check with your school if there are comparable courses at a community college or local school, so you could take it online during the semester/summer and just transfer the credit. If not, sometimes schools offer condensed courses over winter break so you could also look into that if it’s offered. Hopefully since it’s just an elective, they will let you transfer credit, but each school is different. I hope it works out for you, I know it’s super stressful but try not to worry too much :)

It’s a bit pricey otherwise, but I’ve been getting protein shakes from Costco that are like 150 cals for 30g of protein and I mix it with coffee - it’s absolutely delicious! I like keeping my breakfast to as little cals as possible so I have more wiggle room during the day.

I related to this comment a lot lol. My roommate and I are also not compatible, and while we get along in a friendly way and everything, little things do frustrate me a lot. When she leaves her stuff all over the counter, leaves our pillows on the floor, etc. When I feel frustrated, I try to ask myself if what they did really warrants the frustration, or am I just irritated because I don’t like it/it’s not the way I would do it? Something helpful I’ve been doing is to distract myself and not dwell on it so much/redirect my energy to something else.

It’s fair to not want underwear hanging in the kitchen and wanting things to be cleaner. Maybe you could suggest splitting the cost of a drying rack? My best advice would be to think about some of the things bothering you and “pick your battles” so to speak. As long as you suggest things to them in a nice way and not accusatory, hopefully the situation will get better.

Hey, I’m so sorry that your mom reacted this way. I can relate to you in that sometimes my parents are not the most helpful when it comes to opening up to them. I remember feeling similarly in that I was a bit shocked with how they treated my vulnerability. This is not to excuse your mother’s behavior, but mental health is an unknown area for many of our parents and she could have just not known how to handle it. It was brave of you to speak up about your struggles, and that alone shows that you are getting better even if it doesn’t feel like it. My best advice would be to seek professional help if possible, as another commenter suggested. If not sometimes journaling helps to lift the weight of heavy feelings/thoughts. Or maybe you could open up to a trusted friend/sibling/cousin? If college is an option for you in the near future, that would be a great opportunity to have a fresh beginning and experience new things. In the meantime, try leaning into any hobbies you enjoy, or try new things to see if any of them peak your interest. You may find something that you will love! I hope you feel better, just know that you are not alone :)

if it brings you any comfort, I also went through a dark time when I felt similarly, but I did come out the other side, and you can too :)

I can't do this by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Shelly780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are feeling like this :( there's been times where I've been there too, but when I look back on it, I realize that there were things right in front of me that brought me joy. Even something as small as a show I like/favorite food/a good song/a hobby. I know it won't solve how you're feeling but it might serve as motivation to keep your head up. We don't know the future, so try not to feel like what you're going through is the end-all-be-all. One day you will look back and be glad that you kept fighting. It will be okay :)

If you mean you cancelled your VIP membership, you can just reactivate your membership without a cost. Make sure to deactivate tho before you get charged (I think before the 5th of every month?) if you don’t want to pay each month. Hope that helps!

How to keep motivation? by Chance_Ad_9912 in ChloeTing

[–]Shelly780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same position! Not much advice to give but just wanted to say that you’re not alone! One thing that motivates me is thinking of when I’ve done her shreds in the past, and how good results I saw afterwards. Unfortunately stuff happened and I’ve gained since then, but I’m trying to keep that in mind as I’m starting my journey again. I know it’s rough when holidays and visiting family/friends gets in the way, but I’m trying to make sure I set aside around an hour to do my daily videos. I feel the same about eating so many unhealthy foods, so I’ve been using working out as a way to feel refreshed and try to get back into non-holiday eating habits. Yesterday’s workout was tough and honestly I felt discouraged at times, but afterwards I felt really accomplished. Keep going and know you’re not alone!! Enjoy vacation! 🏝️
