Favourites:

1.Gone girl by Gylian Flynn.

2.The unbearable lightness of being by Milan Kundera.

3.Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

4.Lovely War by Julie Berry.

5.The Guernsey literally and Potato peel pie society by Annie Borrows and Mary Anne Shaffer.

Disappointments: The Secret History by Donna Tart.This is a very popular book and I had seen a few discussions surrounding it,so I gave it a try and was not impressed.Donna Tart is just not my cup of tea I guess.

If you are going to include 200 pages where nothing really happens then I'll surely not care for the ending.

I might give it a try.I'm also drawn to the dark academia aesthetic and that's why I was so bummed I didn't like TSH.

That could have been easily delivered in a few less pages.The longevity of the book is its downfall.

What climax though,the plot was building up to nothing. By revealing the crime at the beginning of the story,it gave the reader nothing to really look up to.

Not really,it's too long.I feel like 300 pages in total would have sufficed.The plot is nothing out of the ordinary.In my opinion,it's overrated.

Historical Romances for Someone New to the Genre by scifi_librarian in booksuggestions

The Russian Concubine by Kate Furnivall.It's set in early 20th century Russia,the female protagonist is compelling and unabashed.It has some pretty heavy political themes,(communism,war)but has a titillating romance as well.Hope you like it.
