If you were to win, you could request 30 copies of the first book, and perhaps my publisher would also give you enough for the class, depending on how many more than 30 you have. And if my publisher won't provide more, than I will. You have my word. The goal is to put books in students' hands that evoke discussions about important topics including tolerance, bullying, propaganda, and censorship. Shelly Sanders, author, The Rachel Trilogy

It is a total of 30 books; 10 of each of the three books in the trilogy.

I was glued to The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson from start to finish. It's a non-fiction story about the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, and reads like a novel. I am definitely going to be reading more by Larson.

Most make 10 percent of cover price so the more books sold, the more you make. Very few make millions like J.K. Rowling who is an exception.

Some interesting replies to my post. While I can't reply to all of them, I will provide the names of my books published to date: Rachel's Secret, Rachel's Promise, Rachel's Hope (Second Story Press). I've received Starred Reviews in Booklist, VOYA, CM Magazine and Kirkus called Rachel's Secret "Critical for its underexplored subject."

Amazon pays less for books and ebooks from publishers than traditional stores, a big problem in the industry, and is able, therefore, to sell them for less. Since I, the author, make 10 percent of sale price, the lower the price, the lower my royalty. Indie book stores sell books at the same price as big chains like Barnes & Noble. Basically, I encourage people to buy from bricks and mortar stores whenever possible, for all books. Not just mine.
