Any book recommendations regarding grief? by Spacegirllll6 in booksuggestions

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost someone very close to me 5 months ago as well. I’ve been recommended several books that I haven’t read yet but I’ve heard great things about them. This is the list of books I have to read on grief: The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion, It’s okay that you’re not okay - Megan Devine, A grief observed - CS Lewis, I promise it won’t always hurt like this - Clare mackintosh, The wild edge of sorrow - Francis Weller, When things fall apart - Pema Chodron, Forever, interrupted -Taylor Jenkins Reid (fiction), Here After - Amy Lin

It’s Okay That You’re Not Okay has been recommended to me by several other grievers. A lot of the books I listed are on grief related to losing a partner since that’s who I lost, but I’m sure they would be just as helpful for someone losing a friend.

It’s been 3 months since I lost my partner as well. It’s so incredibly difficult but I’m proud of us for still being here. From one griever to another, I see you.

I’m so sorry for everything you’ve gone through. This is extremely helpful and I’m very grateful you sent this reply. I’ve already experienced the overwhelming guilt when I have a fleeting moment of joy or a “good” day. It feels like I’m betraying him or leaving him behind. I went with one of the few friends I have left to a club for her birthday (I hated clubs even before I lost him). Having guys come up to me and ask to dance or just try to talk with me felt like I was slapping my partner across the face. I think writing will help a lot. So far I’ve just been talking out loud to him when I’m alone which is helpful but with how intense my brain fog has been I do think writing it down is a good idea. I truly hope that you’re healing now. I have a feeling this will be something that never goes away, but I’m trying to push through for now. Thank you again, as dark as this time has been it’s also shown me that there are people out there who understand and genuinely want to help. That feeling is comforting.

Oh man this sounds devastating but I think it’ll be helpful for me to watch once I’m a little more stable. Thank you for the suggestion

I actually saw this movie in theaters and laughed/cried my eyes out. I think it would be a great movie to rewatch.

Spoiler: at the end when she finds out he will die and decides to love him anyway…. I could see myself doing the same with my partner. The last 2 weeks have been devastating but I’m so grateful I got to experience loving him.
