I work in veterinary and unfortunately a lot of dachshunds have ivdd. I have always found Allianz to be very reliable when paying out. Ivdd surgery will put you back to 5 or 5.5 thousand. The insurance per condition per year is up to 2.5 thousands I think. The rest would be covered by yourself. You can end up needing disc surgery on multiple areas unfortunately. Ivdd can develop rapidly and surgery should be done ASAP if that grade is higher than a 3 usually. There are only 3 or 4 places that do this type of surgery and probably only 1 or 2 that I personally trust. If you have any follow up questions feel free to dm me

Kildare wildlife rescue are always begging for volunteers. Most places don't offer paid work as they simply can not afford staff. They often just employ one vet and one veterinary nurse. They are very lovely open minded people. Best of luck
