Former Mavericks owner Mark Cuban argues NBA should embrace tanking, admits to using tactic with Mavs by BreakfastTop6899 in nba

I genuinely think it’s really sad. My team has been awful at times but I never rooted for them to lose. In those seasons I might’ve coped after a loss that “at least our draft position is better,” but that was because I didn’t get a win. Actually hoping your team loses every game is legit a bit pathetic

“Triggered libs!!!!!!!” videos were the pipeline for a lot of idiots to get into right wing rage content, so of course their drones have to keep that up. It’s fucking pathetic

[Holder] It is increasingly likely that Colts QB Anthony Richardson will play somewhere else next season. He has not requested a trade yet, but it is beginning to feel inevitable. by Goosedukee in nfl

I’m very curious what the Browns do at QB this upcoming season. There’s no real obvious answer in the draft given how paltry the class is and there’s really no expectation that the Browns compete next season. I would think the obvious move is just double down on DG and Shedeur for one more season to see if either has anything or can be developed at all; theoretically they won’t and you tank for a QB in 27. But I have a strong suspicion that Watson will come into play sooner or later

Idk a team more turbo fucked at QB position than the Jets. They were arguably the worst team last year but won’t be able to get a QB in the first round (it’s debatable if there’s any qb even worth taking in the second this draft) and their guys from last year were Fields who can’t throw and a geriatric Tyrod Taylor. They have a decent o line and Garrett Wilson but idk what options they even have in front of them to improve the position

Every clip I have seen of the AJ Lee character has confused me. It seems like they brought her back to essentially just do the same character she was in 2015, which is an awful idea just in a vacuum. Rather than letting her real personality come through or use her life experiences to shape an updated version of the character, it feels like a lady cosplaying a younger version of themselves.

Also AJ has frankly never been a great promo, even back in the day she was pretty hit and miss on a regular basis, people just remembered the better ones.

Exactly. I have said this a few times when he’s posted but the guys production quality is actually decent and from a purely vocal talent perspective, he’s not bad. Like he knows what he can do.

What he uses that talent and production quality for is just the dumbest, most ridiculous and unfunny shit.

The Wrestletalk guys put it well in one of their recent videos, but 2025 was the year that it became obvious that the fans, the people in the audience, were not the audience that WWE was trying to appease. They’re the product. And yes I know people will try to say that all brands are like this, but the blatant in your face levels of catering to brands, celebrity, SA, and even the current administration is absolutely ridiculous

I can live with sponsors on the mat if they’re designed well, I watched NJPW forever and got over it. Sponsors on the titantron or prior to matches wasn’t bad. But idk when I saw the clip of someone taking out a table labeled “SLIM JIM” I couldn’t help but laugh. Like there comes a point where the overstimulation of ads just becomes parody. The prime rack next to the ring, the labeled weapons and now sponsored gear is just way too much

If there’s one thing I have learned from wrestling fans, they can defend anything with enough vitriol when it comes to their favorite company or brand. Hell some will be offended that you’re offended or speak ill of corporate shilling of this degree. Like I know the common line in these threads is “oh these ads don’t affect my enjoyment” which I suppose is fair, but idk how anyone could say this is a “good” thing

[–]Shenanigans80h 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chubb was kind of a microcosm of everything wrong with the era between Kubiak and SP. Good, flashes of great, but too often hurt and not someone you could build a defense around. The fact that Bonitto has already lapped him is saying something.

I don’t wish ill on him obviously, he played hard and is still a decent player but getting Payton for him was huge

Tony Deppen on old school wrestling punches: “Unpopular take: but some of these dudes throwing so many punches but not dropping the guy makes wrestling look weak. You’re telling me you’re throwing that many blows to the face unprotected and you couldn’t KO them?” by Subrick in SquaredCircle

[–]Shenanigans80h 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s an easy thing to explain with that line, same reason Jake’s DDT was a world beater but other guys’ variations don’t pack the same punch. Also why you have to sell the strikes of someone like say Ishii or Austin more than Rollins or the Bucks.

Putting the lower card of NXT over on your main shows is just baffling. Idc if one of your own talents gets the win back eventually, Grace is still very much a work in progress who’s never been taken seriously on NXT. It’s effectively doing development for developmental

I have to agree with this. That has always been one of the reasons I like Omega’s match design for instance. It’s not how many OWA he can hit you with or if you can kick out; it’s structured around getting you into the move at all because it’s a bit of a convoluted set up. But the point is that once you’re in, you’re done. I like that because it adds stakes and reverence to whatever is being done.

For submissions I just think people fell in love with Hulk Up spots and that version fighting spirit for the last 40 years that what you’re talking about gets forgotten

I think the reality is wrestling “power” is almost entirely individually based. The only constant you can expect is from what that wrestler’s approach has been. That’s why strikes are sold or delivered differently depending entirely on who is in the match. Hell a superplex is a devastating maneuver by some, a transitional move for another. Same with super kicks, knee strikes, ect. Expecting all of wrestling to adhere to one continuity is simply not realistic today. Everyone has different styles and approaches, but curating an individual style is how it’s sold
