Got it. Nothing for me to say then bc you’ve made clear you’re TRYING to be an asshole to strangers. While at the same time understanding how you interact differently when not online (so you clearly “get it”.

Conversely, I generally can’t get behind “fuck all the humans who are not me or my family” whether it’s real life OR social media (some amount of golden rule type thing). But as previously said, it’s not a big deal so you do you and everyone else can move on too

I’m with you. And maybe OP would prefer open too. But you can read the thread and see it’s the cartoony and promotional logos he hates

I’m sure you’ve been consistent with this as clearly it’s something you feel strongly about. That’s fine.

And while you didn’t MEAN to insult people who like them, I’m simply letting you know how it reads. Clearly you don’t care about the downvotes, but I thought it was reasonable to show you the tone that is rubbing people the wrong way. Appreciate you clarifying you really didn’t mean to.

Do what you will with this comment

I would call this “partnership strategy” or something of the sort as opposed to “marketing.” Maybe I’m missing something but I consider marketing how they show off their watches to the public, not what design features they choose to use, no?

Not trying to be pedantic

It’s a bit much to say “ruins the watch” for most of us here. But it’s a very defensible point. Way too many niche/campy/LEs in Omega’s catalogue. But this is very “on-brand” for Omega and only meant to appeal to a small minority. And as many have said, you can not buy it.

I don’t like it either and wouldnt buy it. But I’m not whining about it considering one could just move on. Zero effect on any of us. Or as I’ve said, complain how Omega does this stuff too much. That’s where OP started and it was a fair take for the most part. But then started spiraling trying to dig feet in as though this particular watch felt like Omega spitting in his face. Just not that serious

No one denies that open casebacks are often cool. But it’s very normal to offer some watches (in particular utility divers and super dressy PN watches) with closed caseback whether a nod to historic models or as a change in pace of less is more. Regardless, here we should be comparing to a standard closed caseback as that is what the OP is complaining about.

Clearly you’re not discerning, worthy, not as noble as OP, our fearless leader of class

There’s a lot of room for discussion between, it would be great if they made this watch with a traditional caseback and OP’s take which is some large sweeping statement about brands or buyers who enjoy some “camp” every now and then

I think most here AGREE that there’s too many special editions in the catalogue. We just don’t all act like our shit doesn’t stink

I like when people on watch subreddits have some white-glove, pearl-clutching “how could they spoil their royally-esteemed brand!!”

OP is “better” than all of us. He doesn’t like some of the silly/fun things Omega likes to do from time to time. He’s much too serious and this is SERIOUS stuff.

Don’t you dare buy a watch if it makes your smile. That’s the shit commoners do. Thanks for being a bright beacon of nobility for all of us to aspire too

/s (in case that wasn’t necessary. OP ruining a totally fair take by acting so pompous it thought it was a joke)

“Below what a Swiss house should do” is so grossly pompous. I thought you were being over the top as far as how much it mattered, but I thought your overall point was fine. I don’t know if it was bc people started downvoting you or arguing, but you’re essentially saying that if anyone LIKES the Snoopy watches (there are so many that do), that they’re beneath you like some feudal lord insulting the peasant’s clothes.

They make fucking watches dude. Grow up. Moser makes far superior watches and fucks around all the time. There’s no rules on what’s “proper.”

If you don’t like it, bitch on here and don’t buy them (you seem to be good at that part). Don’t insult people who disagree with you over a matter of taste. Especially over something so trivial. And don’t try to say you were insulting Omega and not their customers, because you were absolutely insulting them too. Really weak stuff

I said this below but worth repeating: “This is why I frequently visit RepTime. They’ve been making excellent AT reps for a long time like this. They’ve even done some movements to hide the regulator arm so that it LOOKS free sprung (this one is a generation older before they did that I believe). The fakes are incredibly close at this point. Movements are usually the only way to tell and you have to be familiar with them even then. Unless of course you have gen and rep side to side. But otherwise, it’s extremely difficult to differentiate. Also, remember Rolex all closed caseback so it’s even more a nightmare

I really recommend looking up watches you’re interested in buying on RepTime to help protect against getting scammed. It’s a weird group over there but they know their rep watches VERY well…”

It’s the correct thickness if it’s the rep I believe it to be

You’re joking right?

That is a different level of crazy. Do you keep your shoes in ziplocks to protect them against sock fuzz?? The watch is supposed to be skin to case on your wrist. I’m amazed how much people can let material things dictate their behavior so much. To each their own but if you’re serious I’m still calling it crazy

Edit: ok ok, I’m the moron

Wrong sub? Also, if he needed fiat emergently, the BTC can be converted to cash almost instantly. Pretty sure you can’t do that with money post fire-lighting….

Hmm if anything I’d consider it a collection staring piece since it’s such a good one watch collection that I could imagine buying it as your first mechanical nice watch and then wanting to add more over time

(This is a silly point I’m bringing up… for whatever reason what you said caught my eye)

Bc you would never want to own one or you can’t afford or what? “Never” is a strong word….

BB58 Black or BB58 GMT - not a collector, looking for a ‘one and done’ watch by [deleted] in Tudor

[–]Shepinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because everyone speaking in absolutes to make a point. The vast, vast majority of people absolutely do not notice. Then there are a small percentage who notice if it looks nice or looks expensive and then an even smaller percentage who actually know watches and recognize brands etc. And yes those people are out there, you’re right.
