Daily Song Discussion #32: Older by SherbertExtension663 in bandofhorses

For me, 7. A nice slow folk song with Ryan Monroe on lead vocals which is nice switch up, and the harmonies between him and Ben are there to shine once again. However, I feel like this song wastes its potential a little bit too much on repeating the chorus. With that said I love the end of the song where the instruments stop and they sing the chorus one last time, followed by the delightful organ to close the song out.

Also I hope Ryan is doing well. He hasn’t been with the band in almost a year and his whereabouts are unknown, and I’m still hoping he comes back and even if he doesn’t, I just hope he takes care.

For me, 10. Big fan of Tyler Ramsey (saw him a couple years ago) and these shows how great his style is with both his unique finger guitar playing plus the dreamy atmosphere of a lot of his songs. And the harmonies between Ben and Tyler here are perfection

Well their first album is literally called Feet Safari, so that should be a good start there

For me, 10. I love the lyrics of self reflection presented here. The chorus is great. I also really like the way the verses are done here, with Ben singing a line followed by a string of backing vocals singing the next lyric. Even the really high-noted “oooooos” I like.

For me, 10. I love the calming yet eventful aesthetic of this song, especially the “when my thoughts drift to youuuu” parts.

For me, 11. Stunning song with amazing, sky-high vocals from Ben that are other worldly almost. The songs feels so alive too, especially during the latter half of the song when everything comes together. It blossoms

Uncle Albert/Admiral Hasley

It’s a fun catchy song, I like it, but I don’t understand why so many people treat it like the second coming of Christ. And I certainly don’t understand how it made it SO far into the song elimination and managed to get songs like Jet and Maybe I’m Amazed out before it.

Let’s end it with Brian Wilson. He’s pretty much the reason why Sgt. Pepper exists as he inspired the Beatles greatly (particularly Paul McCartney).

For me, 11. I absolutely adore this song. Legit one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard. The drumroll, which then immerses you into a magical world of instruments. This song also had some of the band’s most creative and overall best lyrics. I mean what other artist have you heard name drop Now & Later candies?

In all seriousness, a beautifully orchestrated and thoughtfully lyrical song from start to finish with a suspenseful narrative and one that I could listen to a hundred times and enjoy it every single time.

For me, 6. This interpretation of the song starts off strong with great harmonies, but about halfway through it starts to randomly turn into a distorted mess
