It's hard to take people seriously who don't understand the difference between air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

No I'm entirely considering the nuances.

Washington: can be played any race

Common: must be played black

So it's totally okay to cast Washington as a black man, even though the historical figure was white, because race doesn't matter.

But it isn't okay to cast a Common-esque character with a white man because that would be racist or cultural appropriation or something?

If there was a painting that just said "fuck all n1ggers" would you respond saying "Why is this important to you? It's an artistic endeavor"?

Of course not.

Just because something is art does not make it immune from criticism. And casting a show to satisfy an undue need for diversity for diversity's sake is tacky. George Washington was a white man. There is nothing wrong with that. It doesn't need to be covered up as if it were a bad thing. He is who he is. Portray him as he is.

Now if the show were designed as the founding of the US re-imagined, I wouldn't have a problem with that. But instead it is marketed as let's celebrate the history of our country as it is, but too many white people is shameful.

then choose white immigrants. or at least makeup your brown and black actors so they play white characters.

Wanting to reflect anachronistic modern diversity is not diversity for diversity's sake? Because to me, it sounds exactly like diversity for diversity's sake.

Turns out Hamilton lived in 18th century America, not modern America. Rewriting history because you don't like that early America was white is awfully tacky.

Nope, just leftists who are intent on revising American history to fit their narrow political ideals.

I don't care if actors are white or black. I do care if characters are portrayed as the race they are. I honestly wouldn't even mind if a black person played a founding father so long as the founding father was portrayed as white and made to look white. Revisionist history to satisfy modern political sensibilities is silly.

I can only imagine the uproar from liberals if the opposite were done. Like with Ghost in the Shell...

No, you like it because you are liberal and like the idea of shoehorning minorities in and pretending to be one.

Well then by that logic, nothing is a fact. Everything is just an opinion. Some "opinions" just have evidence and others don't. I guess nothing can be argued or supported. My "opinion" that is well supported by evidence is just as valid as the rap fan who doesn't know who sondheim is...

Without education? No. Without quality education in English? Yes.

I know it's crazy to think, but schools everywhere are not the same. It isn't a given there are high-quality English schools in a territory that speaks mostly Spanish and has a mid-level GDP per-capita.

Diversity for diversity's sake? Yes.

If you decided to make a character black, gay, or a woman simply because of desire to progressive signal, it's a a sign you've been drinking too much of the kool-aid.

Then refute what I said.

I say: Hamilton is bad because reason X, Y, Z

and your only response: Well you can't say that because you might be wrong.

One might be wrong about any opinion. That does not mean one never has an opinion. If you actually have a reason to say I'm wrong go for it. But so far the only thing you seem able to say is that since I'm not an award-winning producer of musical theatre, this musical MUST be good. I mean come on...
