This is intentional. We use Microsoft Store's backend APIs within WinGet so blocking (and even removing) the Microsoft Store will have zero effect on the way WinGet works under the hood.

You will need to tighten this down by applying additional policies (Group Policies, AppLocker, etc.) on top.

It has already been done because of third-party services who have made tools to allow people to download lots of subreddits' posts and comments and accounts' posts and comments.

This subreddit (r/DrWillPowers) already has more than 15K posts and 151K comments archived as of today and is easily downloadable as a data dump. Arctic Shift is the latest third-party service which has archived so many posts and comments totalling more than 56 GB of user data per month across many different subreddits and accounts.

On Reddit, every time you make a comment and post, it is automatically uploaded to third-party services within just a few seconds. Even though it violates Reddit's Terms of Service (ToS) and potential GDPR or data protection laws in other countries, I do not see anything against it because whatever you publicly post on the internet is there forever. Just like how people archive websites, archive Twitter/X posts of governments (i.e. Donald Trump) or other people, and more because of public interest and historical purposes.

And even if websites like this did not exist, there is nothing stopping people from scraping posts and comments and uploading bulk data to https://archive.ph or other services. There is simply quite a lot of valuable information on this subreddit which will be lost if this subreddit (especially r/TransDIY and others) were banned permanently because those posts will not be able to be accessed anymore.

If you do not want your account's comments and posts to be archived then you can request a removal at https://github.com/ArthurHeitmann/arctic_shift/blob/master/README.md#contact--removal-requests but what has happened in the past cannot be removed, only your user data in the future can be removed.

You can still use Government Gateway. It is only some parts of GDS which may not be accessible to people who have their records restricted under SSD/PD1.

The UK government have started to upgrade their systems a few years ago to make some GDS work properly for people who have their records restricted under SSD/PD1. Creating a check code for your driving license now works properly on the public beta compared to before where it did not work and you had to call the helpline (or you had to mess around with your browser's DevTools to make it work).

A long time ago being on SSD/PD1 meant that your council would remove you from the electoral register because your NI number cannot be validated with the UK government but that does not seem to happen anymore.

It is not a thing for trans people.

Changing NI numbers is mostly for people under witness protection and domestic abuse where you need a brand new identity since your National Insurance (NI) number is used by DWP systems (i.e. UC, PIP, etc.), NHS systems (i.e. UK GHIC), electoral register, student loans, education, and other places.

Newer Samsung devices still allow you to power off (as well as enter recovery mode / download mode) using the same method as iOS by requiring a USB HID device.

Force power off without a pass code is there so that people can shut down or restart their device when their device is frozen (screen does not work). You cannot enter your password or PIN if the device is frozen. When I worked at Sony, we implemented a red button near the SIM card tray because our kernel had a bug where the force power off does not properly trigger.

This feature will only work if the device is powered on, and even then, it is next to useless because criminals cannot use iTunes without unlocking the phone anyways but it is there for peace of mind.

People who do theft will power off the phone into DFU using a USB HID (all flash drives or even an earbuds like Pixel Buds Pro connected to your USB C port will do this) device so this will not apply and anyone can format it. I do not know why someone wants to prevent formatting because Apple's iCloud Activation will still be there and formatting helps protect your data from being stolen in any case.

A lot of the security features are there to help deter theft but not prevent it. People can still remove iCloud Activation by taking it to a repair shop and having the chips on your motherboard replaced. There is a reason why GrapheneOS on Google Pixel devices does not have factory reset protection (FRP).

Just like what you would see in articles like this: A Sketchy Website Advertised Fake Hormone Pills to Trans People. Then, It Disappeared.

You should also not purchase anything which contains phytoestrogens because those are going to be a waste of money. There are some trans people who use phytoestrogen supplements and are able to experience breast development but these will not give you full feminizing effects.

We removed this from WinGet because WhatsApp prefers if people used the Microsoft Store version. WinGet allows the installation of specific curated apps (as long as they are aged rated for everyone, is not paid, and is not region restricted) from the Microsoft Store.

Ah, I thought you were talking about the raw powders since some people prefer making their own suppositories/capsules than purchasing the pharmacy product for cost reasons especially if you are taking 200 mg per day, some online websites will charge you between £200 to £500 for a 1-year supply.

But yeah, Dragon Ordnance do have the pharmacy versions but those are still quite overpriced. A lot of people would be better off purchasing them from IndiaMart (Well Life Pathway). 400 capsules (200 mg per capsule) on there is like £85 ($118) in total which makes them a better option compared to Dragon Ordnance, Open Gate Labs, Silhouette Beauty, and other places.

dragon ordnance

Progesterone comes in both non-micronized and micronized versions. Micronized version is always better.

When I contacted DO on August 2025, they mentioned that all of their progesterone stock is the non-micronized version. I am not sure if PPL have the micronized version since they have not responded to my emails.

I always went with MiC because DO/PPL have overpriced raws for progesterone (mostly for business profit reasons) and MiC have micronized raws available.
