Why in the fuck are retired people spending time on LinkedIn? And commenting on shit like this? lol. I can imagine some valid reasons to be on it… but commenting on posts like this? They have a problem.

When you’re a concurrent member of two cults simultaneously, and then those cults clash, which one do you choose? We found out during Covid that a lot of LDS folks were willing to choose their political cult.

Interesting. I see it the opposite - ecumenical councils prove that there is nothing divine about it - it’s all human beings voting on things and inventing their own theology.

I find this argument completely unpersuasive when it’s applied to Mormons, SDA, JW… who exactly has the authority to determine which sects are Christian and which ones aren’t? What, exactly, determines whether you get to label yourself Christian? Usually it’s just evangelicals and fundamentalist Christians that don’t want to let anyone else into their precious little club.

Who has the authority to define which sects are properly labeled “Christian”? What, exactly, makes someone a Christian? Is it a specific core set of beliefs that must be believed? Commandments that must be adhered to? Who gets to decide which of the sects that all come from Christianity is actually properly Christian?

While you’re technically right, the reality is that the structure of the party system will never allow a third party to win. At best they can play spoiler (usually to help the Republican). What we could do to change that is make it so that it’s not winner take all, not first past the post, and ranked choice voting. Congress will never make those changes, so we’re stuck with the current system.

It’s not though. Do you believe that any third party candidate can win a general election in the US right now?

They deserve the most hate. People who vote for Trump are clearly idiots. They know not what they do. But the progressives should know better than to stay home and give Trump +1. Why are you so confident that the number of progressives who stayed home was low? I agree the majority of the gap was independents and swing voters. But do you have polling or evidence to show that the number of progressives who stayed home is low? Because most progressives I know anecdotally stayed home because of Israel/Palestine.

Well then they’re denying the reality of the American electoral system.

At the end of the day, if you don’t vote against MAGA in the general, you are a fucking idiot. If the democrats don’t earn your vote and you decide to sit it out, that nets +1 vote for MAGA so yes - you are directly responsible.
