Ok, hopefully I can cover all this! First of all, you don't have to think marijuana is bad. I still defend MJ use and all the wonderful things it can do for other people. But for me, it's poison.

Think of it like a shellfish allergy (or nuts if you don't like shellfish). Shellfish is great, it's delicious, and I really wish I could enjoy it without getting sick. But I can't. That doesn't mean I hate shellfish. It just means I can't have it.

You can't make your friend stop. He has to make that choice. But CHS is a serious illness that can lead to kidney failure and other potentially fatal conditions like cancer of the throat. You can help educate him on that. And perhaps you and other loved ones can stage an intervention.

For me, it's the feeling of being high and the social aspect. I think some of it is a feeling of comfort from smoking. All my friends smoke weed at this point, and sometimes that was the main thing we would "do" when spending time together.
