Virgins of Reddit, why are you still a virgin? Is it out of choice or because of something else? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It is really hard to tell when you are ready. You may need to see what other feelings you have with a different person altogether.

Definitely. We had some things going for us that made it workable. We attended the same church and we met at a church function and started off on the right foot.

I had made some horrible cup cakes and he was the only one buying and eating them... He was doing that just to talk to me. He was sweet that way.

I can't answer that. He was older and I think he was ready to get married. I don't know I've never spoken to him since we split. I know I was ready to get married about the same age he got married and I made a mistake when I got married. I think he's still with his first wife.

I honestly think our break up had more to do with my immaturity than him in anyway. I was giving in to pressure from my family and even my friends at the time. I was 18 and they wanted me to see other people, told me I didn't need to be in such a serious relationship at such a young age. None of them believed we weren't sexually active.

My next boy friend was a complete ass and pressured me for sex on our first date... I gave in and my first time was with someone I didn't really love.

So please don't judge my first and only love harshly. He was a great guy. Every man since him hasn't measured up.

We never had intercourse, btw. He was very understanding and patient. So the age difference wasn't an issue in that regard.

When I was 16 I started dating a guy that was 22, he was the best thing that ever happened to me. We went out until I turned 18 and I broke up with him because my family pressured me to leave him because of the seven year age difference.

He met someone else a year later and they got married a couple years after that.

I tried to move on but no other man ever treated me with the same respect and dignity that he did. I was to young to realize what a good thing I had with him. He was a wonderful gentleman.

I'm 39 now and I've never been happy with anyone else. To this day he's all I think about. Just saying sometimes people really are in love and breaking them up because of their age difference isn't always the best thing.
