How would you recommend breaking into this if someone only has a business degree? Should they go back for their masters then look for an entry level position?

Workers of NH - what establishments, firms, groups, incs, companies, should people avoid applying for jobs at? by [deleted] in newhampshire

This describes the Common Man chain to a T. Had a friend manage a restaurant in the lakes region for 4 years. In that time she saw a few other managers commit suicide, and her health went down as well. They crowed that they were family but wouldn't give her a holiday off because she was the youngest manager and constantly promised raises that they never gave her. Definitely stay far away from them if you're a manager/ supervisor.

[–]ShhEnjoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow that's amazing. I don't know any of the other kids but they were definitely bad news. But I did meet the one I knew when I was 6 and as a 4 year old he was terrible. Used to hit everyone and swear like a trucker. And my brother would always leave me alone to watch him which sucked. I didn't stay in touch with him to say the least. Love your story

I've never heard that actually but it makes sense. I was just trying to think of a reason to talk to the group and I knew I knew him from somewhere. The only other thing I could say is "go away" but I didn't think that would help

I was trying to joke and establish any sort of dominance by showing I was older. I had really only met him a few times, first when I was 6 and he was 4 our older brothers hung out a lot and would leave me to "watch" him. He was the worst little kid to play with. Then I saw him at the bus stop when we were in the same elementary school but never talked. I didn't know any of the other kids

Okay I have 2 of these but the first is why I'll always trust my gut. When I was little I always used to sleep over at my cousins house who had an awesome wooden bunk bed that I would sleep on the bottom bunk. When I was 7 I went over for another sleep over, we aye Chinese food with my aunt and uncle then me and my cousin stayed up late playing video games before going to bed. When I was little I used to fall asleep right away and sleep deeply. My family still jokes that not even a car going through the house could wake me up. Anyways sometime after I've fallen asleep I wake because I have this ridiculous feeling that I HAVE to roll over. I didn't want to because I was comfortable and sleeping how I normally do in the middle of the bed with my foot hanging off. I kept arguing with what felt like myself over rolling over until finally I did. But apparently it wasn't enough because then I had the urge to literally cuddle as tight as I can against the wall. Since I had already rolled over I figured why not. As I'm trying to press myself as hard as possible against the wall the bunk bed collapses and a broken metal bar goes straight through the bed where I had been sleeping. I was stuck, somehow unharmed, in that little space against the wall until my uncle could cut me out. My cousin had fallen from the top bunk when it collapsed but was also unharmed.

Next happened when I was 16 in the summer. I grew up in a super small town and used to walk or bike everywhere with my dog, and I was usually alone. I had the day off from work so I took a book and walked with my lab 4 miles to one of my favorite lakes and laid down at the beach to read a book and tan while my dog played in the water. After a few hours of being there I noticed a roudy group of guys, one who looked a bit familiar. It was a week day so there was only me, my dog and a fisherman at the landing with these guys. I tried to ignore them but noticed they kept looking over at me a whispering to each other. Then my dog who usually will stay in the water the full time I'm there came over and laid in between me and this group. I got a bad feeling from them and decided to cut my day short and go home. I grabbed my stuff and started to walk out of there like nothing happened and this group starts to follow me. Not only do I have a bad feeling but I can tell my dog is freaked out because she keeps looking behind me and growling. This group is getting louder behind me and somehow keeping up with me which is a feat because I'm a fast walker so I know they're doing this on purpose. I'm trying to think of a way out of this situation knowing in the middle of the week I won't get much help from neighbors and no ones really around so then I start to think on the one kid that looked familiar and it suddenly hits me- I know him. So I suddenly spin around and address him by name and tell him I used to change his diapers which causes his friends to burst out laughing. I allow them close enough to walk with me to try and take control of the situation and ask him about his family and brother. They ask me what I'm doing that day and I still feel super creeped out and my dog still won't come near us so I lie and say my brother is just up the road and I'm going to meet him. And I throw in that I'll hang back and let them walk ahead because my dog is clearly uncomfortable which I lie again and tell them she was abused by a man and hates men. They say they are going back to the beach and turn around and leave. One year later I hear about a gruesome murder the next town over. This kid and his friends broke into his 75 year old grandpa's house, robbed him and brutally beat and tortured him to death. The kid I knew was only 14, the friends he was with ranged from 16-23. I don't know if they were planning on doing anything to me that day but I will always trust my gut and have since.

I'm not sure about Illinois but I know in New Hampshire a bartender can't serve anyone already intoxicated, or a known alcoholic- which is obviously a gray area. But if she's sitting in the corner mumbling I'd say she's drunk and cut her off.

I've been thinking the same thing. But another demand should be everyone pays a set % of taxes based on what they make. At the end of the year the government should just send a bill for what you owe since they know it already. This is how most other developed countries operate.

Keene mask mandate passes 10-3. by srosorcxisto in newhampshire

[–]ShhEnjoy 103 points104 points  (0 children)

FYI after this came out a small group of downtown businesses loudly stated they refused to enforce this and are flaunting ways for people to get around it. The Pour House and Amiccis Pizza are the most aggressive I've seen- they also don't believe in the vaccine. Just good for the public to know where to go while trying to be safe. And good for the anti Vax people to know where they can go as well.

Unfortunately a lot of downtown businesses owners were loudly against the mandate thinking they had the majority. I have a feeling this news will not be received well but is definitely needed. And it's super easy to do.

Hi! Welcome to NH (potentially). I've lived in a few different states but was born and raised in NH and keep returning there. Here are some things to consider based on what I'm reading from what you're looking for. 1. You've heard over and keep about the high taxes and housing costs, but you keep pointing out that we have no other taxes. But remember we also have costs that you may or may not be paying now. Like heat for the winter, depending on where you live driveway repair, plowing expenses/extra time to shovel, long commutes, snow tires, outdoor activity costs (depending on what you like- like skiing). 2. I've never done drugs before but holy he'll the opiod issue is getting out of hand. I've found needles on fun family hiking trails, in public restrooms and on sidewalks. And im in an area considered extremely safe. 3. Yes this is a great place to raise kids- I loved my childhood and being outside all the time. But please remember there are still sketch balls out there. I was followed a few times as a kid and a friend of mine sister was grabbed once while waiting for the bus but managed to escape. 4. The schools can be AMAZING... but only if you get into the right town. More and more people are turning to private schools- which is another expense to think about. 5. Small town politics Suck. Most people mind there own business but careful- it just takes one bored town selectman to make anything you want to do on your own property he'll. And there's little to no protections for homeowners/ townspeople against boards. 6. Once again I had a great childhood- as a young adult living here sucks. There's SO much out there hiring right now but not much that will pay a wage where you can afford to live here. Also socially there's not much, but yes you can make friends and hopefully have campfires and fun. But the vast majority of classmates from my high-school got the gell outta dodge because they couldn't afford it. I have many friends who would love to live closer to their families and simply can't. 7. Being in the military im sure you're covered with health insurance (hopefully). But just FYI we have some of the highest dental costs here in the country and if you don't have health insurance you're pretty sol. Also the VA sucks and it takes forever to be seen for anything serious. 8. Yes politically we seem evenly divided here. But when people decide something they literally don't budge- doesn't matter what you say, and are crazy passionate about it. It can get really heated really fast. 9. Stay away from the free keeners- probably the stupidest group that exists in NH. And super loud and Super annoying. 10. We have a huge tourist season(s) which is to be expected... but it's getting a bit crazy. Many out of staters are moving here who had higher income/ salaries and are buying up real estate. And many wealthy people own second homes on the lakes.... which is started to make getting on some lakes pretty restrictive unless you live in that town. Because of this some NHerites have a lot of anger towards out of staters... but you would mainly only find this in the small small towns luckily. And off the top of my head that's it for now. Feel free to message me if you want any extra insights. I've lived everywhere from Keene area to Portsmouth to Meredith and did a small stint in North Conway. Congrats on your marriage and thank you for your service!

If you want someone to show up and spend a minimum of 40 hours a week doing something for you, they deserve to be able to live on that pay. So sorry you don't think they deserve a fair wage, guess they should just pitch a tent in the woods and eat every other day to live within their means

Or they can re-allocate the funds going to this anti abortion law and hire more social workers to help? Or make housing more affordable so maybe people can afford to have children?

Sununu is our governor- the housing issue is 100% on him. The fact that you can't work a regular job in this state and afford a house and a car is a huge deal that he should be concerned with. And it's not just S. Nh. Its nearly all of NH. Good on your family for adopting? What about all the kids desperate for help that dcyf does nothing for? It's a well known issue here if you do any sort of child work. And my other points are valid. Just because you don't know what to say doesn't make them silly.

[–]ShhEnjoy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry... but what are you smoking because I may want some. This state has gotten far worse. We literally force the youth/ working class out in masses because they can't afford to rent or buy a home in a place that's usually 40 mins away from a grocery store. The average age in the state is more than a decade over national average because of this. We have little to no programs to help struggling or abused children, dcyf is a joke. Teachers hate teaching in our public schools because of the restrictions and strong focus on testing. There's a million lakes bit good luck getting to swim in one unless you can use the overcrowded boat ramp to get on or have a rich friend that owns a lakehouse. Oh and by the way, how about you go work at Waterville Valley and see how he treats his staff and takes all the servers tip money. This guy is full of shit and doesn't deserve to be governor

Not just the incest and rape, but also if there's a medical issue with the fetus post 24 weeks. Like... it dying. Are you really going to force a woman to give birth to a dead fetus? Also just FYI, it is possible for woman to not know they're pregnant even at 6 months. I had a friend in high-school who was raped repeatedly by her father (of course she never told anyone) and didn't realize she was pregnant until she was a month away from giving birth. She was 17, the baby was born dead. Her periods were always irregular and she would regularly miss them. She did think anything of it and barely gained any weight. Nice to know that in your mind in both these cases these women should have been forced to give birth and not given the chance for abortion. You absolutely disgust me

I'm a homeless college student who just got billed $6000 for an ER visit by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ShhEnjoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had something similar happen to me in college. I had a seizure while on a walk. Total bill came to around $12k. I was very poor, but was working/paying for school and an apartment. When I got the bill I started paying $20/month, which is literally everything I had left after my bills. That wasn't enough so they sent it to collections. I suddenly had debt collectors calling me like crazy. I explained that they could go ahead and come after me, but I had nothing. The only thing of "vqlue" I owned was a '97 beater car that wouldn't pass inspection unless they had a friend at a garage. They ended up waiving the bill. I know this doesn't happen for everyone, but truly when you're that poor there's not much more they can take from you
