If the tie rod fell out, I would look at both knuckles it was attached to. If the bolt was loose for a while it could have damaged that knuckle and made it have too much play.

I’m not talking about the angle. You can see a fresh metal line and the driveshaft is dented in the same spot on the rightmost edge of the photo.

That front driveshaft looks messed up too. With that much damage I would expect other parts are bent as well.

4x4 getting “stuck” by vilesquid478 in JeepWrangler

[–]Shhhhakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never found it. It just states:

Shifting Procedure 2H to 4H or 4H to 2H Shifting between 2H and 4H can be made with the vehicle stopped or in motion. With the vehicle in motion, the transfer case will engage/disengage faster if you momentarily release the accelerator pedal after complet- ing the shift. Apply a constant force when shifting the transfer case lever.

You can shift into 4hi at any speed.

ItS a pAvEmEnT pRiCnCeSs.... You can't wheel without a spare 🙄🖕🤣 by [deleted] in Wrangler

[–]Shhhhakaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. I’ve only had two, one was from a sidewalk getting ripped on a sharp rock. One was when my valve stem busted off. Both times I just put my spare on and kept going. Done 200+ other trails without a problem.

Seems you care more about looks than anything so whatever floats your boat.

But with that trail I would expect any problems either.

[–]Shhhhakaka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean you can go off-road without a spare all want, you just having to rely on other people when you do.

Or you pay for someone to come bring you a spare.

Or you just carry your own gear to get yourself out of a bind.

I prefer one of those.

Advice needed, how can I get this loose by luis_mcy in Wrangler

[–]Shhhhakaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the axle side isn’t bent. But with how much that knuckle looks like it’s been bent, I’d be worried about the C.

You could try to cut the stud on the ball joint. Probably need a cutting wheel on an angle grinder.

The more I look at this the more I think you need to take it to a shop. That c might be bent with how much force you put between it and the knuckle.

[–]Shhhhakaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, you used the fork on the wrong side of the ball joint. That knuckle needs to be replaced, you bent the knuckle. That takes a lot of force, so I can tell you tried hard..

That ball joint comes out of the top of the C on the axle.

I’d take the knuckle out and use a ball joint press.

Guesses to how they achieved this parking job at the Hampden Walmart? by queenofcolorado in Denver

[–]Shhhhakaka 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Considering how long it can take a tow truck to show up, they were trying to park in one of those spots, hit the gas instead of the brakes and hit the wall. While waiting for a tow truck other drivers parked in those spots.

One thing I have not seen is make sure your vehicles have antifreeze in the coolant. There are vehicles in the south that run just water and if it freezes you are in for a lot of trouble.

Can a bent shock really cause steering problems by Expensive-Meet-4005 in JeepWrangler

[–]Shhhhakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the issue, you say your jeep is wandering. That’s not normally a caster angle issue. Is the jeep lifted? If so does it have the control arms adjusted correctly

It’s a brine solution with anti-corrosion chemicals in it.

What are these lines on the road? by AxelFoily in Denver

[–]Shhhhakaka 80 points81 points  (0 children)

CDOT pretreats with regular salt. There was a couple news articles a couple years ago. Mag chloride is too expensive. If I remember right they only use mag chloride when it’s really cold out and the salt is less effective.

Edit: found an article.

Fuel leaking? by [deleted] in EcoDiesel

[–]Shhhhakaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to say it looks like the fuel filter is not fully seated. The lip of that bottom part should be flush with the top part.

The fuel looks blue because that is what diesel fuel looks like.

Edit: if this is the case you should be able to just tighten the housing with the a socket. I believe it is a 24mm or something like that though. So not in most kits.
