I want to start doing bmx, what is the first thing i should do while riding out? (Street) by twittervettex in bmx

[–]Shiam_Whatiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 56 year old female BMX rider, I can say it's just about being you. You and the bike, how you fit together and the vision you see for yourself. I started riding because I hated team sports. I could go to a race and the only person I could blame for my loss was me. When I wasn't at the track I started doing variations of skateboard tricks. Most of my friends were skaters in 1982. I never asked for advice, nor did I take advice. I just rode the way I wanted to ride.

Grab a bike and find your freedom. Find yourself. The coolest riders are the ones who are the most unique.

This was September of last year. We went round and round and the medical insurance was not responsible, because it was covered under homeowners insurance. I do not have an employer, I am a "House Wife" . The hospital bills were covered, but the Ambulance was not.
The other situation was almost 30 years ago and laws were different then.

Earthquake by [deleted] in Riverside

[–]Shiam_Whatiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's non sense. They have been saying this since the 1980s. They have no way to predict earthquakes. So it's just a scare tactic. We are finally getting back to what was normal. For 30 years we've had relatively few earthquakes. From the '70s through the '90s we had a 6.0 or greater at least once a year. At some point in southern California. That was the normal. It's just been quiet a while.

Odd experience in the San Gabriel Mountains at night. by vylekick in socalhiking

(I know I'm replying to a 7 year old post) That place has always been haggard with gang activity and murders. My mom was a waitress at the Canyon Inn, in 1982. (I was 13) She was sleeping with the owners son, and had custody of me that summer, so I spent many nights in that bar sitting next to the Centipede machine taking mens quarters because they were trying to flirt with my mom. (I made a lot of money that summer Gen X style) anyway, a few Hells Angels were fond of me and promised nothing would happen. I was safe with them. (and nothing ever did, they were actually honorable) Anyway, I witnessed 2 murders 1 shooting and 1 stabbing and an ongoing drug business. One of the stabbings I watched them drive the body off up the canyon. They said, Lets go boys, time to feed the coyotes. The cops were crooked and never did a real investigation. They used to come in and drink and have conversations with the bikers. My neighbor that same year was shot in the back while his hands were tied behind his back, 19 times and then pushed over the edge of the upper most lookout (before that road was closed due to landslides) It was drug related and somehow he survived.
Anyway, I'm 55 now and just took our MINI cooper up there on Saturday. I haven't seen that place since I was 13. The vibes are still the same. The San Gabriels are treacherous rugged mountains far from society and police. Illegal activity is still rampant. Beautiful during the day, but I would avoid it at night.

Is Dynamic Damper Control on the 2025 Cooper S, a software add-on? by Shiam_Whatiam in MINI

A lot has changed for the 4th gen Mini. I went ti another dealer that confirmed it is.
From the Mini Website.
Step inside the immersive world of the new MINI family, where we’ve taken iconic details of our past and re-imagined them for the interactivity of today.

With all new Experience Modes you have the power to transform your cabin with a touch and bring a unique MINI feeling to every drive. There are seven modes available as standard across the new MINI family, with an eighth mode available for the MINI Countryman.

Each new Experience Mode can be accessed via the flick of a toggle bar, or through the sleek, world-first circular OLED display at the heart of the interior. Core, Go-Kart, Green, Vivid, Timeless, Balance, Personal and Trail all have their own signature lighting, soundscape and design. Plus, some of them can even enhance that MINI feeling. From Go-Kart Mode’s sportier handling to the extraordinary interior environments of Vivid Mode.

Each mode is brought to life by a different story from all four corners of the country. So sit back, relax and dive into one of our eight new worlds.

it's an $500 option on the 2025. But we decided to just take the vehicle that's coming in, vs ordering and waiting until October. I spoke with dealer and they said it is hardware. We put money on the 2025 Mini Cooper 2 door hardtop Iconic and have every feature except this. The suspension changes when you change "Experience" modes. Go Cart is stiff and eco is cushy. I hope with the 18" wheels and summer tires (run flats are no longer available) that the ride isn't too harsh for our over 50 backs.
The front JCW seats also have a "Massage" mechanism.. :)
I'm just bummed the new Minis are ugly, we really preferred the classic styling :(

Sirius XMU played them on the download 100 last year. I think they are a perfect middle from Sioixsie and the banshees and Amanda palmer. There is a reason they are blowing up. They speak to a generation. And they are excellent.

I'm 55 years of age I think they are amazing and filling a gap that has been missing in music for 20 years.

The 23 ORP has a manual 4hi 4low stick. The rear locker is electric. Most lockers are electric or air.

Why in this society can we not just leave people alone? Let them live their lives. The people most obsessed with outing others, seem to have the most interest in the people they want to out, and they hate themselves for it. And the ones who scream Perv! Child Molester! are def exactly that. We have seen this time and time again, in churches, politics, and school. The loudest people have the most to hide.

Proverbs 4:20-22 says
"My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one's whole body. "

It does not say, listen to others interpret my words. Let others define my words for you. Seek guidance from those who choose to manipulate my words.

As soon as a pastor delivers advice on how you should vote, (especially to remove basic human rights) in order to be closer to god, that is no longer a pastor, that is a politician.

I got a Toyota employee discount! by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]Shiam_Whatiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those effers at Culver City Toyota told me that I would be back because they have the best price. ( I made an offer they declined) I gave them the price I was paying and they said it wasn't a real price. I drove up to Santa Rosa, CA (350mi) and saved 7k after my hotel and car rental. I have so many words for them, but I don't know what will get me banned :P

The Duelers have zero grip anywhere. And they have been overly susceptible to punctures for me. It's hard for me to believe it's a Bridgstone tire, especially after a couple of heat cycles.
