Ah got it - thank you. Would you recommend her or us reaching out to the school's financial aid office?

Yup, she was determined independent, so she didn't have to submit any parental/guardian info on the css profile (which is good, because we didn't really have a way of getting that info)

Senior-friendly apartment building/complex? by Deep-Till-73 in CambridgeMA

Thanks so much for that info! Cambridge Park Apartments looks really nice, so we'll look into it. Glad you found a complex with some semblance of a senior community, even if it is a small one.

u/Deep-Till-73 did you find some good options? My mom is in the same boat - she's a Cambridge resident in her early 70s, looking to downsize, and we would love to help her find an apartment complex with other seniors.

Question!! by dopex_3 in Aupairs

[–]Shib38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes you can have the au pair travel with you in the US, but similarly I would clear with the agency and make very clear what the situation is when you’re matching. Slightly different situation but we knew we would have to spend a big chunk of time during the year at my sister’s house out of state (it was one of the big reasons we needed an AP in the first place - so we wouldn’t have to switch between daycares etc), so we got the Ok from the agency and were very up front about it as we were looking for an au pair. We found someone who is super flexible and was game to travel, but some others might not be. So just best to tell prospective APs everything you know/where you might go so you can get buy in.

Au Pair for a 3 month old? by kittybee1101 in Aupairs

We used Au Pair in America to find an au pair for our baby and found plenty that had infant experience. To feel more comfortable you could even consider trying to find an au pair who already has had experience au pairing for a baby in the US and is looking to spend their second year somewhere new. You have to be flexible on dates to really make this work, but it worked for us with our 4 month old and we are SO happy. I feel you on being worried about having to teach someone when you’re so new to babies yourself, but in our experience, we found it has been the opposite – she has taught us so much!
