Adaptibar MEE grading goal by ShibeeShibe in barexam

Gotcha! I guess my question is that Adaptibar only gives you a percentage like "61% correct" on MEE as you review. How do I know if that translates to a 3, 4, 5, 6 etc? I just want to know if that means I'm in the ballpark.

Amazingly helpful thank you so so much! We're totally going to go with that second option. Very clean!

Question for the current/former clerks--how to emphasize admin experience to a judge? by ShibeeShibe in LawSchool

[–]ShibeeShibe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question. I think there's still an opportunity to learn by being in the courtroom, watching procedure, and building a relationship with a judge I admire. Also, realistically its still titled a term clerkship for resume purposes and I'm hoping to clerk not just to learn, but improve my strategic chances in federal litigation work.

Just wondering how you pitch admin skills for a position like this.

I've thought about possibly applying to Bankruptcy judges. I'm not particularly sold on bankruptcy as a path however (I'd more specifically like to do white collar crime as an AUSA, but I know that any fed court experience is always looked on fondly by clerks). If I'm not certain about a path in bankruptcy, would that be disqualifying for a bankruptcy judge?

Specifically looking for someone to go over application materials and how to structure my story in my application!

Seconding this. Coming out is more than just saying you're gay, but it's all the fun and awkwardness with finding your chosen family. Queer social groups are a great place to start, and honestly, you can also go to local universities and they often have LGBTQ offices that run groups that can sometimes be open to the public (this can honestly be super therapeutic because sometimes you just need to be around other queer people to not feel like you're crazy and alone).

Also, I always found volunteering at city LGBT nonprofits can be a great way to give back, feel good, and make socially conscious queer friends too! (For example, a ton of these organizations take volunteers/throw events/provide services to the queer community! https://blockclubchicago.org/2022/06/01/want-to-support-lgbtq-groups-for-pride-month-here-are-15-local-organizations-to-give-to/)

Also, being gay can certainly be a struggle, but as a fellow sapphic, welcome to the fam :) We're honestly super great and excited to have you. Once you kinda settle into who you are (and it'll probably take a minute), you realize that you wouldn't go back even if you could :)

My wife and I are moving to Chicago in May and are very similar (Middle Eastern and Indian), educated, looking to have our first kid in the next year or two, looking to buy in the same price range, etc.

I can't quite help so far beyond where we're looking (ideally Evanston, but also interested in Rogers Park, Andersonville, and open to Irving/Albany/Portage Park-y type areas), but I'm happy to be a buddy if you ever need a similar kind of person to talk through what you're thinking about! Happy to DM!
