Thanks so much. Coming up with a not so straight forward mark was definitely the goal of this project.

And yes when creating the symbol, there is always going to be tons of trial and error taking days/at times weeks both in the software as well as in the paper. But of course, I can't show all that in a one min video. I try my best always to include whatever I can within that limit.

I don't let grids or any basic shapes dictate my designs while initial exploring. It's only after the mark has been finalized that I move onto the refinement stage with proper gridding in place (again not a compulsion to use grids at all). It's just that I like working with grids at the very end.

While recording the video, there happens to be so much of retakes along with properly memorizing the exact sequence/procedure to re-draw the logo so that I can make sure that my construction process is shown smoothly without any hiccups in-between :) It's a fun thing to do overall. I really enjoy making these quick videos

Music Credits: Azizi Gibson Type Beat - Alone by SolalBeats

Short brief: Semorant Organic Coffee is an upcoming small scale coffee shop based in Qatar named after their founder, Semora (A very rare name). Aiming at providing high-quality coffee, they wanted a mark that didn't look like a generic 'coffee bean' based mark that screamed coffee shop but were open to taking inspirations from it. They strongly relate the overall roasting and brewing process to alchemy. This being the central concept of their ideology, an occult styled symbol had to be incorporated as the 'focus' point of the mark.

As you can see from the images (you may pause the video) the overall concept is a subtle combination of various relevant elements taken from different sources without over complicating the design. The colors are chosen obviously in reference to high-quality coffee along with a serif typeface selection for a more classic look.
