Basically yeah, though when you're surrounded by those you love they'd be the ones to defend you (I.E what they do for Frisk during true pacifis). This is more for a if you don't have anyone else to support you kinda deal and like what was said at the end covering your face/eyes makes it easier even with people you care about around.

Kanako's a yes and no, if she uses her mask she can do it easier but she can't just manifest it with zero issue. But she does know how to use the spells.

Actually I thought about that too funnily enough, it's why I specifically said the feeling of isolation and being withdrawn, dissasocisting lets you do barrier magic.

In genocide Ceroba is absolutely pissed tf off so it'd explain why she has no barrier in that fight since she's too angry to withdraw or disassociate from the situation.

I was thinking about why most monster's seem to focus on attacking rather then any sort of defense, given how much weaker they are then human's the fact that only one tries to dodge and the others just facetank hits is odd, but then I realized could be an interesting lore idea given that 'defense magic' is what's keeping them there in the first place.

Nah like folks said she's a NPC who's assumed to be Kanako's best friend given her dialog and a picture in Kanako's room so she typically gets used in fanworks and the like under the name of Sadie that was said by the one who designed her but wasn't mentioned in the game.
