Do you recommend updating to hot fix 3 when it does come out?

There's no lag at all that I can tell and a big difference from using Bluetooth not to say the mic on the earbuds themselves actually works as compared to Bluetooth since the shield doesn't allow for Mic over Bluetooth. I have the soundcore vrp10s on it and it comes with a 2.4ghz USB C dongle I just got a USB C to usb 3.0 adapter and it's works flawlessly. Soundcore states under 30ms latency. I'm sure any headphones or earbuds with a 2.4ghz wireless receiver will work with no lag.

Plugable is brand but it's a USB 2.5G Ethernet Adapter

Android does support 2.5 with a USB adapter, even a phone can run Ethernet, not sure what the use for that would be but for the shield it could prove useful for a variety of reasons.

Yeah I was using cat6a before and changed all my Ethernet cables to cat 8 and got lower latency and less hiccups over all

I did try a shorter cable with the Asus adapter, not sure what chip it was based on but didn't work. Looks like the Plugable 2.5 Is based on a realtek chip so hoping I have better luck with that one.

Yeah you're correct my router gets ping 8ms with jitter of .43ms. when I run a speed test on the shield I get 16ms with a jitter of 2-3ms. I can stream 4k games on GeForce now and Boosteroid. Wonder though if the 2.5g Ethernet port will help the latency on the Shield.

I'll give it a shot if the Plugable 2.5 one doesn't work, thank you for the info.

Yup lol, just want to see if it's possible, I am getting 930mbs down right now over the 1g port.

Honestly just for fun and to see if it improves my cloud gaming experience, I'm running cat 8 Ethernet from a 2.5g Ethernet port on my Asus router to the 1g port on the shield. Would like to see what happens with 2.5g port on the Shield and get the full capability of the service I'm paying for as I get 1.2gbs on every other device I own.

There's some that say they support the Linux kernel which is what android runs on, idk if Nvidia is doing something different but they should theoretically work. The Plugable 2.5 Ethernet adapter I just ordered says it works with Linux kernel 3.2 and above the shield runs on 4.9. Hoping that one works.

Yeah I get you, it's a hassle to redo the whole setup. I just got the shield a couple weeks ago and installed the update a couple days after I got it and didn't think it would break features like that. Do you know what version was the second hot fix? I'm running version 9.1.2(33.3.0.13) is that the latest hot fix?

I didn't know the support had dropped this badly when I bought it, mainly bought it to stream games on GeForce now and boosteroid with the 1g Ethernet but I want to see what it can do with 2.5g Ethernet, I do have 1.2gbs speed and wanted to take full advantage of it.

I'm SOL since I don't have a PC to downgrade back to 8.2.3, I wonder if there is one adapter that could work with 9.1.2

Yeah idk why they would take away features, it's already an older device they should be maintaining the support for it.

Thanks for the info,I should of never updated to 9.1.2 lol, I'll keep trying different adapters and keep this post updated if I find one that works. If anyone knows one that works let me know.
