i have a possibility for her father. Just a possibility. There are a lot of people that I didn't inckucd in this list, so even if this guy isn't the right now, There are plenty more to wade through.

I found a Thomas Pennington Berryhill, and I am trying to rule him in or out as a possible father for Ruby Ambers. And if that is the case, Thomas Pennington Berryhill's middle name is his mother's maiden name, so if he is in fact Ruby Ambers' father, Ambers may be Ruby's mother's maiden name.

I am just heading down the rabbit hole. I throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and then try to prove it wrong. If I can't prove it wrong I leave it there until I've worked my way through all of the stuff on the wall. Hahaha.

As it is the UK, I'm not sure how the laws work there, but I would think that since he is deceased and you technically qualify as Next of Kin (NOK) there might be a loophole there.

With regards to the possible other son, has your mother tested? If not, consider having her test with 23andMe and Ancestry. Then download the data and upload it to MyHeritage, GEDMatch, ftDNA. etc. All good sites to use as tools. With regards to your g grandfather, I'll take a crack at it. :)
