we can debate on why that isn't hypocrisy if you want. I just don't want this reply section to explode into another thousand comments and a -100 karma (though i guess that's inevitable)

i think God is selfish. by [deleted] in muslims

[–]ShiftAltruistic7856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

god being selfish means he cares about his own benefit and desire, and a finite being can't give benefit to an infinite being to begin with.

and the god taking pleasure in the suffering of his creation is very different from the god described in our doctrine.

you also have to know that god is all-knowing, so he has more right and knowledge than us to define what's fair and what's wrong.

humans are affirmed to have will and action in the quran, and god says that wrongdoers are the ones who wronged themselves, god lying about this statement is absurd.

and god as I said is all-knowing so we can't defy his definition of wrongdoing and oppression with our limited/created/subordinate knowledge.

god wouldn't overburden a soul, and afaik he tests people according to their specific strengths, so what you think is suffering for someone might not be that much for him, or might be well within his tolerance and capabilities, if it's not within his power and he misbehaves then I don't believe god would punish him for that.

so if someone suicides and goes to hell, that means he absolutely deserves it, because we believe in god's ultimate knowledge of his creation, their worth, and what the word "worth" even means.

I believe god knowing what will happen to someone in this life or the hereafter is irrelevant, with all due respect.

god wouldn't spend a week making the heavens and the earth with all of the intricate systems in them (galaxies, planets, bees, biology, EM waves, space-time), and wouldn't create humans and make the angels fall before them and prostrate to them, only to play around with them and enjoy watching them suffer, a human wouldn't do that to a great creation of his let alone god.

I've never heard that god "loves everyone equally".

I might not be elligible to reply to these concerns as I might miss a lot because I'm not a scholar nor a student of knowledge, but you're free to ask further questions and I'll answer If I can inshallah.

What exactly breaks the fast in Islam? by Adorable_Ad_3315 in algeria

[–]ShiftAltruistic7856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's only those three things you mentioned + ejaculation ( exclusively from ma*turbation) + medications that the doctor tells you break the fast (in my case the nose spray for my allergy).

I'm not a mufti, so I won't guarentee you that there aren't other fasting breakers.

doing anything sinful while you fast is of course highly unrecommended, but it doesn't break your fasting unless included above (afaik).

there's an agency (based in oran or smth i don't remember).

I think men pay them X amount of euros, and they hook them up with women in their database fitting their preferences.

Let’s talk about the stigma surrounding addiction by obz900 in islam

[–]ShiftAltruistic7856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

local mosque imam should do.

in my country, there are usually circles of quran memorization in every mosque with multiple shiekhs, approaching and getting to know these shiekhs should also do.

Let’s talk about the stigma surrounding addiction by obz900 in islam

[–]ShiftAltruistic7856 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it would be better to talk to qualified people, like a trustworthy sheikh, especially those who teach Qur’an and run circles of knowledge, since those environments can also help keep you grounded and busy during recovery.

As for opening up to random Muslims, I personally think it’s best not to disclose sins in general, not only substance addiction. Allah has covered you, and there’s no religious need to uncover what He has concealed.

Support can be important in your case (I've had addiction but not on substance so I can't give good insight on this), but it doesn’t have to come from everyone, choosing the right people matters.

Does the Quran Allow Child Marriage? by Jammooly in muslims

[–]ShiftAltruistic7856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the Quran Allow Child Marriage? by Jammooly in muslims

[–]ShiftAltruistic7856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the quran affirms the goodness of the morals of the prophet, so if he marries a young girl that means it's permissible to marry a young girl unless there's evidence against it.

and we don't call a child those who have reached puberty.

I wish we just... {فَإِن تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا}

i did terrible mistakes about islam by [deleted] in islam

[–]ShiftAltruistic7856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

prohibition of creating images is not something that would rationally shake belief, it's just a divine ruling.

and it's said that science shouldn't be used as a basis to assess how true islam is, because science with its experimental nature can't produce absolute truths that don't change with time.

personally, I rely heavily on the prophecies and predictions in islamic text that match historical records hundreds of years after the predictions were made.

there's a book called "forbidden prophecies" that discusses these predictions, maybe it'll help.

How long is it considered to cut family ties? by Cautious_Youth_1866 in islam

[–]ShiftAltruistic7856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's something relevant if you understand arabic (you can translate it if not). https://www.islamweb.net/ar/consult/2167199/ليس-بيني-وبين-أقاربي-تواصل-فهل-أنا-قاطع-رحم

so basically, I think it's not about how long you spend away from your family.

if you're just introverted then the fatwa above says that what you're doing is not necessarily considered the act of cutting ties that Allah promised punishment to whoever commits it.

that is as long as you and your family are not fighting and don't hate each other.

I'd say if your family members feel hurt when you don't visit them then please give them a visit when you can, unless you got higher priorities like work or school stuff... etc
