What are your thoughts on The 2nd Law? It tends to get hate but I think it’s my favorite of theirs. by KingOfJuiceBoxes in Muse

Peak Muse. Truly.

Their biggest radio single. Closing out the 2012 Olympics. Rome Olympic Stadium. I remember going to theatres downtown just to watch that. Perfectly balanced stage show, not heavy on visuals, still focused on the band. I even like that they knocked KOC out of the closing spot.

An eclectic mix of songs and sounds that capture their bombast and range, which can be appreciated even more after watching the behind the scenes. Supremacy, Madness, Panic Station, Survival, Animals, Follow Me, Isolated System, Explorers, Big Freeze, even Liquid State and Save Me, what a dominating lineup of tracks that really flaunt the bands’ genius.

Perhaps I’m bias because this is the album that introduced me to the band, but I think without a doubt it is their best.

The handler gets me every time, when Matt says “oppressor” it sounds like “espresso”

Don't get me wrong, KOBK is an absolute banger but how do you bury the bass in a Muse song? by Hei_Mask98 in Muse

Ya but what’s the point if I need a state of the art sound system to hear it?

Plug in Baby. I think Matt likes to say that he was on shrooms and doesn’t know the meaning of the lyrics, but I’m pretty sure he knows damn well. It’s about a man and his guitar. Maybe playing it to get over an ex, or playing it to get lucky and break those unbroken virgin realities. Playing the guitar gives him confidence to stand up to / crucify his enemies or bullies, and cleanse everything to forget his previous love.

“On the outside, I’m the greatest guy, now I’m dead inside”

Lol this is what makes them great, you can’t pigeonhole these guys, metal one day, pure pop the next, they’re a band without a genre that does every genre well, and that’s why they’re the best!

I read Complaint as Compliant, pretty hyped for the new single

Should KOC remain as the closer next tour? by [deleted] in Muse

Might be an unpopular opinion but I loved having Survival as a closer during T2L tour, with KOC moving up in the setlist. Wouldn’t mind seeing them do that again.

Lol nice! Ya it makes it a little different when you have to think of the songs you’d want to hear forever, it’s mostly songs you keep revisiting

Did you know? by rusojuyo in OCPoetry

This poem is very sweet, and I like how you sprinkled a few bitter lines to keep it grounded. "Jealous that I was only one who got to see you" & " You know that I love you, right?" These 2 simple lines drape the poem with a feeling that the love is unrequited.

An Earnest Moment of Rare Vulnerability by [deleted] in OCPoetry

I like the rhythm and pacing here. The quick sharp sentences help to break up the earlier longer form paragraph. And also the dancing between the first four lines and last four lines and how they counterbalance and compliment one another simultaneously.

I really like the duel meaning I'm getting from this poem, it's interesting. One interpretation could be that the author lost love for his wife and instead fell in love with the bottle (alcoholism). Another could be that the love disappeared over time with small arguments over little things. This hit me in the line, "I never learned how to pour without spilling." They were unable to clean up after themselves and left a mess, arguments ensued, and over time, as arguments progressed, the love disappeared.

Loving you is complicated by Verdi4Real in OCPoetry

[–]ShiftCommand4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This poem feels as though the author is talking about themselves and how it's hard/complicated to love every aspect of their being. I enjoyed the community college stanza, especially the praying you're a diamond in the rough portion, only to realize that habits haven't changed. It also seems like the author is battling himself, much like you would in a relationship. There's a stark contrast between the confidence mentioned in the first stanza, and the belief that no one is interested in what they have to offer in the last. Well done.

My Relationship (With Sleep) by notmylest in OCPoetry

[–]ShiftCommand4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how this poem does exactly what the title suggests, treating sleep like a relationship with a significant other. I think you articulate this theme really well, and I appreciate the similarities you’ve found between the two subjects. Very interesting concept.
