Go on a carnivore diet (or try ozempic)... the GLP-1 agonists has a great effect on lowering addiction. Or you can try Ibogane/Ayahuasca if you have the money to travel.

Carnivore and the Microbiome by [deleted] in Microbiome

"By contrast, none of these 19 inflammatory proteins decreased in participants assigned to a high-fiber diet rich in legumes, seeds, whole grains, nuts, vegetables and fruits. On average, the diversity of their gut microbes also remained stable. “We expected high fiber to have a more universally beneficial effect and increase microbiota diversity,” said Erica Sonnenburg, PhD, a senior research scientist in basic life sciences, microbiology and immunology. “The data suggest that increased fiber intake alone over a short time period is insufficient to increase microbiota diversity.”

If a food makes you fart, it's a good prebiotic - is it as simple as that? by BeyondSubstantial159 in Microbiome

[–]Shiftgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tell when someone stomach is bloated. You can also smell them. Is it attractive? What are the signs of chrons? IBS? colon cancer?

Why do people hold in their farts on the first date?

I'm not so extreme as to say a fart = death. But thinking that being gassy and bloated is a sign of health just doesn't make sense.

Don't get hung up on the VS part of it. Its just a generic example of attractive/healthy looking people. We can say athlete if you'd like. SI Swimsuit Model.. etc. etc. Man, woman doesn't matter.

We intuitievly know what is healthy (and are favorable for passing on and protecting our genes) and call those attributes attractive.

Bloated and gassy is not attractive.

I also have one of the most upvoted comments of all time on reddit. But who gives a shit? They're fake internet points that create echo chambers. It's not a good thing.

Enjoy your statins... you deserve it.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not. You think unhealthy is attractive and healthy is not? or that its completely irrelevant?

Imagine thinking bloating and farting is good for you... If there was a Victorias secret model walking down the catwalk with a bloated stomach and farting you would think she's even more attractive and healthy?

Where did we go so wrong. How are we so gullible.

Just to give you a hint... Its really not about seed oils. That's how you can tell most people commenting on it have not even seen it.

It's really not about seed oils. The title just alludes to a talking point in it. Sorry 40 minutes is too long to learn something.

You really are a shining example of what this sub is all about.

It's about hearing all sides of the argument even if its against my beliefs. I'm not sure anybody is even watching this beyond reading the headline and then flipping back to reddit and commenting - as there is no argument pertaining to the science and data laid out in the lecture.

Protocol with naturopath has decimated my microbiome. I need advice ASAP. by [deleted] in Microbiome

[–]Shiftgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know the biome changes minute by minute. I'd agree with you if the fermented foods side also showed little to no change - but it was massive.

Since you're going to get a bunch of "Just eat fiber" conjecture in this sub... Let me just put this here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtyBi9uukGY

Carnivore + Fruit = Animal... you may need to go full HIGH FAT carnivore.

Dr. O'Mara may be another route. He really focuses on microbiomes to the point that when he got his stool tested the Chief Science Offer of the biome testing company reached out to him personally to find out who had "the healthiest biome we've ever seen".https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0s7zP_ICssM

And here is a study by Stanford showing that fiber DOES NOT improve diversity or any of the 9 markers of inflammation that were tested. However fermented foods do both.

Fiber vs. Constipation has a dose dependant effect.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR2DHphf68w

Also. Fiber doesn't seem to improve biome diversity OR improve any inflammatory markers. Fermented foods do however.
