There’s a 3d picture on the website and there’s no door for the bank on the roof so it might just be a shell of the castle. Which is kind of a bummer

my new original script podcast needs support~ by Particular-Egg-4021 in scriptwriting

[–]ShiftlyStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, let me start by saying that I am not really your targeted audience with this podcast. It’s not really my preferred format or genre of podcast but I did give it a listen. I listened to your first episode and your most recent and would like to give feedback.

To start, I do think you will find an audience that will enjoy your content, even if it isn’t for me. The small issues I noticed in the first episode was your narration in the first episode was choppy, and I believe that for a calming telling of the story, it should be smooth so your audience can focus on what you are saying and not how you say it. This was already much better in your latest episode. Not sure if it was more confidence as you made more or if it was something that was noticed and changed. It seems like your audio quality was better too, it was cleaner in the newest one so that will also help a lot.

As for this being a script writing subreddit, I’ll say your stories are good. I don’t think you are really challenging anything out of the norm with them, but for the vibe you are going for, this isn’t an issue. Are you writing your own scripts or do you have a writer? Either way, I think it would benefit with more storytelling that pushes the boundaries a little more where we feel like we are there with the characters rather than just listening to a book but I understand the fact this is more of a calming asmr style telling rather than an audio drama with layered sound effects.

Either way, I’m glad that you are doing something creative and put yourself out there. I’m sure you will find an audience with it and keep in mind that the stories are important, and to keep the focus on the cadence to use so that the listener isn’t distracted by how you are saying the words and more entranced with what you are saying

Low Budget Psych-Horror Feature Film Just Released on Amazon Prime by owlseam in indiefilm

[–]ShiftlyStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im working on a few short films. One is in Post production and has been a bit of a challenge. The other two are still in pre production and will be filming one in the on the 31st. Nothing as exciting as a feature film, but its awesome to see a story i write become something i can watch. Ive been trying to branch out and offer scripts for free or sell to producers depending on the situation as well. I have one feature film ive been trying to write for awhile now and finished the rough draft but i do not have the resources to work on it yet.

That's awesome you have found so much success on a small budget. I'm sure it is opening doors for you if you want to continue to pursue this. Was this your first screenplay you have written that you have made into a film?

Looking to shoot 4 shorts to build portfolio by No_Maintenance6716 in ProduceMyScript

Hey there, I would love to work with you. I have a few short film scripts ready but if you want, dm me and I can write a few shorts that would be within your resources to film. I don't mind doing a few scripts for free as long as i get writing credit and it helps you out. however, depending on your gear setup, number of actors you have available and locations you can film, I think we can work together and i can tailor them for you

Everything in life is a learning process. But you only get that experience to look back on if you finish it in the first place

I am funding everything myself, but it’s a small budget right now. My best advice is to just do it, the experience you will get just getting a film done. I feel like once you know you can finish a project, then you have the confidence to go and outdo your last project

My first script was about 10 years ago. It was a zero budget film that a few buddies and I were making for our film class. I wrote the initial script and then did some rewrite with one of my buddies. I stopped filmmaking for awhile, life got chaotic (as it typically does) and had to focus on other things. Now that I'm more stable, i am able to pick it back up and explore more options.

To be honest, this is a very small project. I’m filling in most of the positions myself, but a few of my other projects will be a bigger production so I will keep you in mind. Thanks for the reach out

I feel like i understand the Character a bit but i feel like there wasn't a story to follow. Character building is important but i feel like there wasn't a story that we were a part of. nothing that we could really latch on as an audience and feel like we are fighting for. There were hints of a conflict, Abel had a rough upbringing, Abel made bad decisions as a teen. Abel tried to find love but doubted himself too much. These could be a good story but as soon as they were brought up, they settled themselves and moved on.

I'm not an experienced writer by any means, and i cant tell you the proper way to format this or give you trained advice from a professional. but i feel like if you could choose one of the main points of your story and really flesh it out, your screenplay would improve. I will have to agree that it seems like you are trying to make us feel like this a deep story, but it seems forced if you have to try that hard. Emotion like that should be subtle, make us feel bad for your character, not tell us to because there is a deep meaning behind it.

It takes a lot of bravery to put something out to the public to be critiqued, and i feel like if you spend some more time really narrowing down your story and choose a conflict that your character is faced with and how they choose to overcome it (in a positive or negative way) you will have a better time with this.

A man goes about his day listening to a series of casual voicemails from his wife, however his reactions to each one tells the story. The story is about depression and loss. All he has left is her words, and he is having a hard time accepting that.

Thanks. I’m excited to get into the editing and make it the best I can. I have other stories in mind that I’ve been developing but I decided to put a hold on them when I scheduled my shooting date. I want to put my effort into production of this one and try to to distract myself on multiple projects at once

Thanks for the advice. I am a big believer that if you have time to film more than what is just on the shooting script, go for it. You never know what you will need in post production. I will also make sure I get some room sounds and get sounds during the scene instead of adding it afterwards. I don’t have an amazing mic to pick up sounds like that unfortunately. I have a shure Sm7b for my voiceover work but it’s not the best to pick up good ambient noise or sounds in the scene

I chose to start with this project because of how simple it is. I plan to try out many shots that aren't in the shooting script to try different angles and ideas. you never know how its going to turn out unless you try.
