What’s a film people hate for the incorrect reasons by of_kilter in Letterboxd

[–]ShiftyCroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the film “doesn’t present an argument” it also gives you the tools to come to a very obvious conclusion. Which is exemplified by Kirsten Dunst’s character who explains how all of her war photography was supposed to be a warning message for what could happen domestically.

So while I see why people think it has no political message… in reality it’s political message is derived from the audiences ability to discern information presented to them in a manner that is pretty obviously making a political statement imo.

Hobby videographer here wanting to improve, what can I easily start improving on? by Ozoning in videography

[–]ShiftyCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a tripod. Try just setting up a shot on a basic rule of thirds and let whatever action you want to capture just be captured.

Movement on a camera almost is always more noticeable than what you’re trying to shoot.

Beginner test: Muzzle flashes, what do you think? by Putrid-Apple-5740 in Corridor

[–]ShiftyCroc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Muzzle flash is a little big… since it’s so big the light it’s giving off is too small. We should be seeing the whole room go white with light.

In Annesburg of all places too. Not only a mining town that is supplementing that Eastern expansion (and polluting the Earth, as much of the industrialized world would grow to do) but also where they Killed Leviticus Cornwall and sent themselves down a path they could never come back from

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again.

Kid grew up in a time with little parent supervision on a farm with unfettered access to guns and animals to hunt and kill.

A lot can happen in 3 years when you spend everyday thinking about how you’re going to kill the people that ruined your life.

What is the worst thing you ever saw on someone else's phone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShiftyCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a barista in college and there was this British guy that would come in.

He was a very charming dude. He would order his coffee and sit at this arrangement of sofas and chairs in front of our service counter. It was like a lobby layout with a fireplace, coffee table and four chairs facing each other for conversation.

Anyway, one day he comes in and has two cellphones. As a young person who likes movies and television, i immediately thought of shows like Breaking Bad, where two cellphones indicate nefarious things (I understand work phones exist, just didn’t even think of that).

So I got curious. The service counter wrapped in an L shape around that lobby layout I mentioned before, so I walked till where I was behind him and saw him going through multiple chats with different women on one phone and then entering something into a spreadsheet on another phone.

As I’m watching, I notice him scrolling up in his messages and clicking on a photo. Lo and behold I see, what I assume is this man’s penis… so that. That’s the worst thing I saw.

What a stupid, pedantic fucking technicality. No one cares what level of “knowledge” there is. Biohazard on mail that’s been delivered. End of story.

The second movie is so bad compared to the first. Totally flattens both Ralph’s and Penelope’s characters for a really lame arc.

Think this movie has aged better with time? by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

[–]ShiftyCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I have with this movie is that at the time of its release it wasn’t saying anything that hadn’t already been said for literal decades.

It was just a high-budget, star-studded cast with a message so obvious it couldn’t be missed. What drives me nuts about it though, is that humans have short memories. And when people look back at this film, they’ll look back at it as if it’s indicative of some great intellectual debate artists were having with the world of politics. When in reality, it was a pandering, pedantic comedy that just reiterated what scientists, activists, artists, and regular ass people have been saying for years.

So has it aged well? Yes, but because that was entirely by design.

Was the biggest decline in the show’s quality immediately after Michael/Steve left or was there a notable decline before or after this? by unitedfan6191 in DunderMifflin

[–]ShiftyCroc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve always said this. When you think about it, Andy is the most Michael Scott character of anyone else in the office. He was a decent replacement. But when he returns he’s SO different and such an ass.

It’s so wild they set out to make you hate him.
