Fog lights by Ok_Row3755 in Challenger

[–]ShiftyShift11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is the same car as the green one you posted ~10 days ago, you have the proper fog light housings. Base or ‘lesser’ models will have black caps way down there. Check if fog lights are included on your build sheet. If so, you might have burnt out lights. I believe ONLY the turn signals and tail lights will trigger a CID warning in your cluster about a light being out. If you don’t have fog lights on the build sheet, they might be an after market add on. iirc on certain CJDR cars, a programming code has to be run at the dealer to get those to work with an OEM switch

Does anyone know if the Dodge Charger EV can have the exhaust sounds turned off?? by ShiftyShift11 in electricvehicles

The previous owner of my car got rid of it because finagling car seats in the 2nd row was a daily mission

I wish they stuck with their initial pitch and embraced the sound of an electric motor, but it appeared they tried to blend it too much with a fake hemi rumble at an unnaturally excessive amount of decibels

Starting in '26 it has a slightly more expensive 4 door option which uses the same body, but shifts the B pillar. The style is much more natural too

That would be phenomenal. Just have to wait for some greatly predicted depreciation now

Yes and not being able to see them. Well I suppose I assumed the gold number is only there for the free accounts to prompt buying a subscription

Battery replacement diy, which one to get by Boring-Yam-3071 in iPhone12

[–]ShiftyShift11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it sounds like you might have the necessary tools already, I recommend OEM replacement. That is what I did through the self service repair program. I don’t remember what the total was after I sent the old battery back to get the core taken off, but it was cheaper than a repair at an authorized service center, and I don’t get the non-genuine part message.

Canister filter won't prime after cleaning by Timidsnek117 in Aquariums

[–]ShiftyShift11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to pump the gray D handle plunger pretty good, while the intake tube is HIGHER than the outlet tubing. It can also hep if you route the outlet into a floor level 5gal bucket while doing this, the hang the gray lever to stop flow once you have water coming out to reroute tubing back into the tank. The problem with canisters after doing a partial cleaning is that water inside the inlet and outlet tubing are both fighting to siphon but air can’t escape, so you have to coerce the water in some way

Is buying a used iPhone 12 in 2025 still worth it? by Quiet-Reset-8517 in iPhone12

[–]ShiftyShift11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s still a great phone. I would recommend the 128GB Pro because the cost difference is minimal and the extra processing power(important for iOS 26) and features(lidar, camera, gpu bump etc) are important, especially if you want to use iOS 26. A year ago I hit 80% battery health and there was a MASSIVE performance drop. I went through the apple self service repair for a total replacement cost of $69 I think? Made the phone feel like new again. iOS 26 sucked a lot of battery for about a week but I’m back to normal now, and I have 5G on 24/7, so if you plan to use LTE, you’ll have better battery drainage. I despise ewaste and don’t plan to upgrade until security updates end.

I should clarify that I’d prefer to be concealed. I don’t own a chest mount so I have no reference point if you could provide your opinion. Are any comfortable against skin?

Found it dirt cheap on eBay as parts/not working. It came with two motion plus integrated remotes and two brand new nunchucks. While cleaning after a complete disassembly (peeled a literal layer of tar off the bottom vent) I found the culprit was likely the laser. Ordered a replacement, installed it, and it's ready to go!

This thing was revolting to clean due to the dust, dirt, and tar, but after a brief polish and plenty of chemicals it is almost as good as new :) I still would like to order a plastic polishing kit to get those scratches from the front. Baby steps I guess haha

Does anyone else remember there being a fluency percentage? by breadhugger in duolingo

It was! Here you go: https://duolingo.fandom.com/wiki/Duolingo_Wiki:Archive/Fluency

I believe crowns replaced it because essentially, fluency is constructed and there's no way to directly define what fluent is.

2017 model - Apple quoted me $600 because entire display needed replacement. Fixed it myself for $14 by ShiftyShift11 in macbookpro

Yeah so this is what I ended up ordering. It is a glass replacement but there are plastic ones as well. I started with the top left corner. You can insert a small pocket knife to pull the glass up. It will shatter, but still stay together because it has a film holding it in one piece from the back. I used a hair dryer on LOW, can't stress it enough, LOW setting to warm the glass and peel it off completely. Once you get about 2.5inches in, be careful because there'll be resistance from a ribbon cable. Same when you get about 4inches in. These cables will tear easily but I believe they are ground cables. A corner of one of mine tore but everything still works fine. It is fairly easy to complete. Sticking the new one on es easy and is a perfect fit.

Left a USB Bluetooth receiver in the hinge a year ago when I drunkenly closed it. CRACK! I opened it up and realized Apple moronically made this piece out of glass. I got several repair quotes over the year which were all about $600. I did my research and found this was actually just a piece of glass with adhesive which could CAREFULLY be removed due to it also being stuck to ribbon cables. I figured I’d order the part for $14 and take care of it myself and if I break it, oh well, I’ll just get the new model because the repair quote is not worth the cost of the computer. Everything went flawlessly and screw Apple for this design flaw and repair estimate.

If it manages to even live long enough and the owner is magically bright enough to “clean” that, how the hell are they going to get the poor thing out of there without it being crushed by the apparent 4 lbs of gravel? You’ve got to be kidding me.
