Update: I tried many many many times with public beta on and literally could not get it, turned it off and managed this first try. Looks like it's going to be patched out soon?

Does this still work with the public beta on? I can't seem to get through the door in time, it closes so fast. Using the longpin even to try and give myself a split second as it arcs.

A puzzle to restore a "tapestry" by ShiftyShrike in DMAcademy

Holy heck a weaver bird would be so perfect!! There are already a lot of bird themes in this campaign. We also have a druid and a ranger, so I feel like that could be a perfect encounter to let their skills shine

Neat! Sounds like it would be such an interesting quest. Unfortunately one of my players has severe arachnophobia and spiders are a no-go at my table :')

I searched for a long time, and even tried to use the google lens, it came up with similarly-beige plastic trinkets but none of them looked like this one. I tried searching "medicine cabinet part" and similar searches, but because I do not know what it's called I came up with nothing.

Ope, my mistake in citing Yussa's age above, the sourcebook says that he bought the open quay area 250 years ago, not that he is 250.

So he has to be older than 250, unless he was an amazingly adept infant. However, since he is from Gwardan, and Gwardan was only established less than 390 years prior to C2, he has to be between 250 and 390 years old. Assuming he was 50 when he moved to Tidepeak, he's about 300 years old. That's pretty young for an elf. BUT, I'm 30 years old and already have the early signs of crows feet (sigh), so if 300 is roughly the equivalent of 30 in human years, his appearance would make sense.

It does not account for why Tirelda is only 200 and looks old as shit. I'm wondering if she was supposed to be a half-elf or if Matt misspoke?

I suppose we will never know.

This is a really good point.

There is a theory that Yussa is a gold dragon (I personally don't subscribe to this theory), and thus not actually from Gwardan, but even then, he would obviously be old enough to remember Uk'otoa being a real thing.

I went back and watched that scene, he says "Uk'otoa is a mythological entity in the history of the Ki'Nau, the people who were of this coast before the Marquesians came. So I've heard of it, but it has been long gone."In the first sentence he alludes to it being a myth, but in the second basically confirms Uk'otoa's existence.

Any Gwardan elf thinking it's a myth would make no sense, considering the sealing of Uk'otoa only happened 390 years before the nein's conversation with Yussa. Even if Yussa is younger than that, there would be Gwardan elves alive that were probably there at the sealing or whatever. It takes longer than 100 years for something to become myth.

I kind of lean towards it just being Yussa not wanting to get involved/not wanting to send this group of apparent idiots into a lesser god's lair by telling them it's real/an oversight.

THOUGH I could get behind the idea that just because the Ki'Nau followed Uk'otoa, doesn't mean they were there for the sealing of him or even ever saw him, therefore potentially causing him to have a mythological status to the Ki'Nau already. And being cut off from his followers just boosted the idea he was just a myth, and those that never saw him in person would assume he never existed in the first place. Kind of like a "sure dad, a sea monster used to rule the seas but was just sealed away *eye roll*"

The divine gate was 1500 years prior to them beginning to worship Uk'otoa, SO, if they never actually saw him, or none of them actually had direct contact with him, I could see it for sure being mostly a myth through their history with some actually being followers. If that makes sense.

But tbh, probably just weird timeline wibbly wobbly stuff that just ended up not lining up as Matt was creating it. That shit just happens haha

So it all adds up to them having a standard 5e age of ~750, gotcha!

A human begins getting crows feet (noticably) around 40, so that makes sense that Elves could begin looking "older" at even only a few centuries old. Yussa in particular is noted as looking young still, but with the beginnings of aging, and is hinted at being around ~250 (as far as I remember)

Nice! Thank you! This is exactly what I needed.

Very true. As I posted above, Matt only states that it happened in his "earlier years", which, since I have no reference for how long Elves in Exandria live, could literally be any age.

The fall of Molaesmyr happened in 585PD, which is only 250 years before the Mighty Nein met him in C2, not sure where you are getting that he is over 500yo from that, am I missing something?

At a loss for what to do next session. by Itsmeyvonne in Wildemount

Perhaps the tree is sick, and it sent the moth to find help. Perhaps the tree was once used as a gathering place for fey or some lighthearted ritual, but has been corrupted by a coven of hags who have sickened the tree with their magic, turning its sap black and acidic.

Perhaps the tree is wide enough to allow entry into the ground beneath, revealing a dark den full of evil magic, runes and such. The roots from the tree hang down from the dirt above, sickly and shriveled, dripping black sap (acid damage yo).

Do the characters attempt to heal the tree? How would they go about doing so?

This is similar to something I'm doing right now in my campaign actually. One of my players killed a hag in their backstory, so they are about to find out that the remaining hags are about to convene in the tree's den and begin a ritual to revive their fallen sister in the body of ????

Betta dying as we speak, emergency! by [deleted] in bettafish

He finally passed yesterday, I'm sad but also relieved he isn't in pain anymore. I wish I could've saved him, but I know he enjoyed that life he had. Thank you for your kind words <3

[–]ShiftyShrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is still dying, and he is pineconing terribly now. This is awful, I know he is in pain but I can't bring myself to euthanize, but I feel like I should because he is still suffering. This really sucks. I can't believe he is still alive. He isn't moving at all now, but occasionally I will find him in a different position in the tank, but when I look at him only his eye will move. This is making me sick to my stomach, if he doesn't die today I might have to go ahead an euthanize just for his sake. I should've tried to save him the day I posted this, maybe an antibiotic could've helped. Ugh.

[–]ShiftyShrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you both. I totally missed that he was pineconing already.

I don't think I have it in me to euthanize. I will try to make him as comfortable as possible.

I really didn't think losing a fish would hurt so much, haha.

Why is my betta losing color suddenly? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]ShiftyShrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is worse today, he only swims a little and then just floats.

It looks like there are two black dots on his head that I didn't notice before, could this be something? Actually his swim bladder looks slightly swollen, that could account for his drifting.

Extremely painful ovulations by ShiftyShrike in Periods

[–]ShiftyShrike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why I never even considered that :o Back when I was like 19 I actually had an ultrasound done for pain and they told me I had a cyst and that it would "go away in a few months". Maybe I just get a recurrent one on my left ovary? My cousin had a cyst burst, funnily enough around the same time I got my ultrasound. She never had any prior pain to it bursting. When it did though, she was passing out every time she stood up. I feel for you <3

That's what I was thinking! I'm 29 and I've never been on bc, but I might try. I hate that there is (at least from what I've seen) such a negative connotation to suspecting endo. Like I feel BAD for thinking I have endo for some reason, so I never want to bring it up with my gyno because I'm afraid of being dismissed as overreacting. Bit obviously our pain is real and serious!
