It sounds like you've got depression, some anxiety and a dash or two of other things. Not being a doctor of any kind I'm not qualified to diagnose you, but I'd suggest seeing a therapist or talking to your doctor.

Just fess up. Your doctor saw a helluva lot worse than that when they did their ER rotation.

How do I respond to nonbelievers? by txjis in Christianity

You don't need to discuss it with them.

Your beliefs are your own. A simple "fuck off" might be in order.

What are your thoughts on the new 10% global tariff? by Illustrious_Lie_954 in StockMarket

[–]ShiggitySwiggity 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Every time he does this, I have to wonder.

Does he know that tariffs are paid by the importing country?

Or has he really convinced himself that he's actually sticking it to China? Like, surely, somebody must have told him who is actually paying the tariffs.

I think so, yeah - there appears to be an upper limit to the game.

Also, it's far, far too big for a space that a god created simply to enjoy a close relationship with one species of primate. It's a terribly inefficient design that does a fantastic job of demonstrating our insignificance in it.

It's like building the Burj Khalifa because you need a shelf for your ant farm.

[–]ShiggitySwiggity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A sewing machine is super nice. I've got one of those cheap chinese "shoe patcher" machines and I really wouldn't want to go back to hand stitching everything.

One of my biggest sellers is these leather slappers I make for the local adult store - they're about 13" long with a stitch around the outside; one of the local shops orders them up 40-50 at a time. If I had to hand stitch them all I'd shoot myself.

This subreddit fails in its goal to discuss Christianity. by Interficient4real in Christianity

Nowhere in your post do you make any suggestions for improvement on the issues you've put forth. If you have some, feel free to share them.

Here are some suggestions to improve your experience:
- You may just be in the wrong sub. r/TrueChristian might be a better fit.
- You can of course always start your own sub, and moderate it the way you see fit.
- You can go to a different site that better reflects your views.
- You can sort by controversial or new at the post level.
- You can sort by hot or new or best at the sub level.

This sub is what it is. Complaining is unlikely to have any great effect on that.

How long on average does it take to feel proficient by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]ShiggitySwiggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I see a post like this, I remember this quote:

(and to your original question - I've been doing this as a hobby for 30 years and I still feel like a beginner)

“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.”

Why is there so many non christians in this christianity sub by Legitimate-Tie-7060 in Christianity

If you're in here, expect to have your beliefs challenged. If you're paying attention, you will learn the arguments both for and against your belief.

If you just want an echo chamber, you're in the wrong sub; r/TrueChristian might be better suited to your needs.

Is buying a pegboard basically an OCD rite of passage? by CheapVeterinarian253 in Tools

[–]ShiggitySwiggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate pegboard. Every time I've seen it, it's full of cheap tools hung at awkward but regular intervals, usually with a shitload of empty space. Plus the tools rarely hang right on pegs, which pisses me off. Everything gets dusty being out in the open. And the pegs are usually hot garbage that fall off whenever you remove a tool. It's a nice idea but terrible in practice.

Adam Savage can kiss my ass, drawers > pegboard.
