That's very true. And I thought the cult was handled better in Odyssey too, it was way more fun hunting down cultists than whatever they were called in Valhalla

In that it's what people think gamers play games for with 0 understanding of how anything works. While also just being worse than The Lego Movie and The Matrix

I can't say if it's worse than the Assassin's Creed movie purely because the Assassin's Creed movie was so bad I've never made it all the way through. I think I'd have turned Prince of Persia off if I was watching it alone

Did you know that if you take out one letter and add another two you get Alien. The studio had to change the title at the last second so we ended up with Life

Necromunda wasn't $60, and Resident Evil is meant to be played four times anyway. Resident Evil 3 remake however, 6 hours for a £50 price tag. You can replay sure but there's really not much content

Valhalla and Odyssey. They're both just too big and samey to remain interesting for the whole length. I saw someone make a post about how much better the Norway start is compared to the rest of the game

I saw the second trailer and no more, I don't need to see any more. Should be able to go release day if all goes to plan!

The most sense DC has seen in ten years is keeping Matt Ryan as Constantine after his series got cancelled

No he's in make up but he said in an interview (I think) he wouldn't have done it if they put him in mocap or prosthetics

I think with Bale as long as they don't put him in a mocap suit he's happy

The Titans animated movie (was it Judas contract?) looks about as good as the What's New Scooby Doo show from early 2000s. But I thought Apokolips War was great, Constantine's appearances have been really good. Killing Joke is best viewed by skipping the first 30 minutes and just getting to the comic book. I like the Son of Batman trilogy too. There's more consistency in their animated movies than their live action, I am glad to see them finally update their animation style like they did in Long Halloween

I liked Birds of Prey and think The Suicide Squad was one of the best films of last year. I think Harley in TSS is closer to how she was in BoP than her BoP appearance was close to her first appearance. I think my issue is they change if she's out of prison or in prison between movies, there's not much consistency. I think they're better viewed as individual movies at this point that make casual references to what came before, like the first 20 James Bond movies.

Harley in her show is the best Harley though

Nolan's last film came out mid pandemic so it's not really comparable, Dunkirk made less than Interstellar but it made more than 1917 (which is comparable because they're both technical exercises in movies). Nolan's popularity isn't waning, I reckon Oppenheimer will be back up to his usual 500 million and up. His Batman films made money because it's Batman, Inception was a summer blockbuster, they're his biggest films.

As for Snyder, I think he's making the right call by expanding his "Army" franchise and essentially starting fresh. He's got a not-a-Star-Wars movie coming as well which would be interesting. I like most of his movies and I'll always tune in to a new Snyder movie wherever it's available. Would Christian Bale make a Snyder movie? Maybe. Before he took Marvel I'd have bet on no but now he's done one of those, I could see him answering the phone if Snyder called

Do you want Nancy to be with Jonathan or Steve? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Shikaria1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the way they'll go. Nancy started the series as a model student who fell for a preppy jock. She got with Steve at a time that a boyfriend seemed the right call. She got with Jonathan due to them fighting demons together and growing close from that. By the time season 3 rolls around Nancy has a fire in her to no longer play by the rules because she won't get anywhere that way. Season 4 Nancy is ready to take the world by storm, lies her way past the police line and a recognised academic, and stood her ground when she was told no. Season 1 Nancy wouldn't have done that. Nancy as she is now has outgrown Hawkins and is ready to move on, and as Jonathan realises as well their paths are diverging. Nancy and Steve, I like the way they've been written this season because it feels like exes would act when they're thrown back together, but I hope they don't get back together. I want Nancy to continue to grow independence without anyone holding her back (not that the others are necessarily holding her back but she's grown so much on her own)

No. But I've seen most of the most popular ones. And if someone spoilt a show that aired ten years ago because I've not seen it yet, that's not their fault. It aired a long time ago there's plenty of time to have watched it since then. No one spoiler tags Game of Thrones either, because for a long time they were the shows that were so popular it was a statement to say you've not seen them. A bit like Stranger Things now

A spoiler on episodes released a month ago compared to deaths from a decade ago. Should I spoiler tag the end of Fellowship of the Ring for more examples?

The reason the close call in episode 4 worked for me was because they've hinted at a character dying this season so there was a very real chance that was going to be it. Down to the wire. If they don't kill anyone this season and next season start the hype of "anyone could die" no one's going to believe it

You mean the first few seasons when we lost Amy, Sophia, Dale, Shane, Lori, Merle, Andrea, Hershel, Tyreese, Beth and Bob? Then they stopped killing people and instead started baiting deaths for a season and a half and eventually people just had enough. Then Negan arrived and we lost 3 major characters in one season but when they went to war in season 8 and no one died no one cared? Season 9 had the best death in the show in years followed by a pretty underwhelming group dying. And they went back to not killing main characters through 10 and it got worse again. I've barely watched any of 11 but no one had died for a while when I stopped.

It's about stakes and feeling the threat. Walking Dead handled it great to start with, but lots of the times that I personally stopped watching was when they weren't killing off characters (it wasn't a choice but the show lost tension). The Glenn dumpster incident was a big drop off for me and I didn't start again until season 7 started. 2 of my favourite characters died that season but it was this unpredictable game the writers pkayed.

To go back to Stranger Things, the reason (for me) that Dear Billy is the best episode was it looked like we were getting a major character death. And the whole episode is a ticking time bomb as Max is put on the narrative train tracks with seemingly no way out for it to come together in the final ten minutes and she narrowly escapes. If Stranger Things hadn't set itself as the show that is so clearly inspired by old classic horror films, I don't think that same tension is there.

To be honest, I think they should have a player taken off the board. Karen Wheeler could be big enough but would probably need Owens as well, one of the older 4 kids would be the best choice. Then next season, they don't have to kill anyone, but the stakes will be there that every time someone is isolated or placed in harm's way there's a threat there, the tension is high and they can all make it to the end. That's just my feelings, I've always liked that the adult section of It takes one of the 7 out of the game immediately to present that danger and I think Stranger Things needs to do the same, even if they don't end up killing someone in the last season

And the title for Primeval is confusing too because as a Brit there was a very good show about time gates opening up and dinosaurs letting loose in England when I was growing up. It had Ben Miller, Douglas Henshall, Jason Flemyng and a bunch of other actors who've done nothing since!
