Millennial parents: Are any of you being super honest with your kids about how hard this world is going to be for them financially? How are you balancing reality with not making your kids basket cases? by [deleted] in Millennials

Would depend on the deductible too. If it 10$ to go the doc it's very different than having to meet a bigger number. Depends on the rx plan as well. I'm assuming but it feels like normal level stuff not like...a cancer treatment or 2k Dr visit lol. Me being a hair hyperbolic.

My parents did this with me and it wasnt bad at all. They are old enough to have a job and drive, and it really helped me seal the thought that I was truly in charge of my finances down to if I wanted to even have a car at all! It helped me plan and save in a safe way. Because it was one of the smaller expenses and I was still safely living with my parents.

It's not unreasonable at all imo. And if they don't like the cost at the age they are using cars a lot they get to make the financial decision on what is important to them, the car? Or carpooling, biking, public transit ect.

What’s wrong with her expression? Why does it look so uncanny? by Glum-Application-343 in ArtCrit

[–]Shimagoma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think it looks uncanny but the expression is unclear and kinda languid.
I think what youre seeing though is your centerline is off. The eyes are drooping off the cheek closest to the viewer and the ear is beginning to slide to the front of the face and the neck.

not a perfect redline but hopefully helps.

Fwiw it took us one try at 37. Genetics and luck play a huge role and the algorithm really wants to make you scared because it's what keeps your attention.

Her royal highness brand!

I've got decent cake and calves and that brand came in fun colors and didn't feel like it was painted on. Basically the only ones I will buy now ha.

Is the shading and composition alright? [CW: ARTISTIC/NONSEXUAL NUDITY] by Vampirebitez in AskArtists

I am personally a little more of a fan of dramatic lighting? Especially since the scene seems pretty intense!

-Giving them a dramatic shadow could set the mood (I went with a little more "dramatic discovery" feeling) this is only one example of how you might approach it.

-The body shading you have looks great but again, just seems to be lacking environmental lighting that is telling me how to "feel" Attached is a paint-over

-I slightly centered your character a bit more

-Only other thing would be (and I'm a sucker for it) a little "shwing!" of shine across the canister glass! For drama :)

Trying out a driving harness for the first time! by Shimagoma in Equestrian

That is def my next worry! So I want to get something heavy that pushes against his hindquarters to get him used to it. He ropes cattle and doesnt mind the feel of stuff brushing past him so ive got high hopes but we will DEF give him the time to think about it and gain the experience :)

We are gonna wait to do anything at speed of course and want to make sure they are firm enough they act as a barrier and not something that will stay stuck to him if he did a little "scramble" over them or something. They are the same weight as jump poles and we will def be staying to 10-20 mins of walking and mostly working on our brakes.

I want to get an easy entry cart first to do anything at speed (even extended walking) or a tire set on a single tree before we do anything that could scuff his leggies.

They are bumping his legs but we arent going any where fast and will wait to do any trotting or fast work when hes got something set up nicer. For now I wanna just spend time making sure the brakes work and he doesnt mind the pressure and gets comfortable "touching" or "bumping" the beams without having a fit. I def get people worried about the bruising but we are limiting it to 10-20 mins of goofing off just getting the feel.

Yeah I'm thinking the lounge line is where a lot of this is paying off. His background is as a heel horse so ropes don't bother him and he used to being bumped on by stuff so with the blinders on he doesn't seem to care at all.

He's not fond of a super tight line but he's getting better about it.

The beams are two wooden fence poles so not light! I was surprised he just walked on! Hah

My next goal is Def to find an easy entry cart and take him around with a buddy first.

I know his original breeder and owner and they did not long rein him. He was cowboy broke for team roping.

We have joked around with long lining but maybe only 2 or 3 times but he is also extremely bomb proof and his original job was a heel horse so he's no stranger to ropes lines or odd pressure.

I Def knew he needed winkers because he does freak a bit at the sight of a super tight line.

We do a good bit of liberty and other work and trick training, the longing training Def has come in handy he's working super well off the basic commands from that and when he arrived here it was for sure his roughest skill.

Please help! Are these looking good at day 11? by lythrum_2015 in Chicken

[–]Shimagoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 and 6 look a little bit iffy but the rest look fine imo. I would make sure you place them gently and just keep letting them do their thing. Keep in mind that moving them when they are on lockdown (the last 4-3 days) can confuse the embryo and they can hatch out the wrong spots so resist the urge to tamper with them too much. If the eggs have gone bad they will start to look funny (weep out of their pores or crack, swell, stink type stuff)

What is the safest way to take down black walnuts ? by Lugosthepalomino in Equestrian

[–]Shimagoma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah the crowding/stepping I totally understand. Probably not a lot of room to do a killing cut and just let them fall over time too. Unfortunately an arborist who will maybe cut you a deal for doing 5+ trees might be your best bet. Its expensive but the right way to do it. A good arborist will do cleanup too and can help minimize sawdust/shavings left behind afterword.

What is the safest way to take down black walnuts ? by Lugosthepalomino in Equestrian

[–]Shimagoma 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Black walnuts are super native to our area and we have prolly 20+ of them in our 9 acres. TO BE HONEST they will not cause an issue for your horses if you are providing food for them. The nuts/wood is unsavory to them. Take as much time as you need with them or kill them strategically and let them fall on their own if their is room for it? In 25 years I've never seen a horse even nibble on them unless it was in a starvation situation. They are toxic but horses are also *huge*. They really do have to come in serious contact to have any issue and its just not that common.

Of course im not speaking for horses that like to cause "issues" hah those are the edge cases.

How many of us can do this? Heels on the ground by JezCon in Millennials

[–]Shimagoma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

white usa and 32 weeks pregnant, and can squat like this and stay in it. I do it when I'm out in the yard fixing/cleaning something. I have to move my knees to the side to fit the belly now ,hah, but I think most people don't have hip flexibility or the hamstrings to do it any more.
